Many months ago, the hinges on my 4420 were getting a little tight, so I put some oil on the hinge pins. That made it worse (the original white gease is better than oil).

Recently, one hinge broke, probably from being too tight as a result of the oil. Before installing new hinges, I bent the “wrap-around” flat steel parts very slightly, to loosen them a bit. This was done with a small screwdriver, placed into the gap at the end of each wrap-around, and then rotated slightly. I think this will help, but I won’t know for a few years.

i badly need your help!

i have an acer 4620z. i need to replace the hinges which i did. the problem is that it is so hard to fold the cover as the hinges are too hard. also, it started to fold the screen bracket.

is there any type of oil, grease which i can put in the hinges.
