Yevhen, did you replace memory at the same time? I would try reseating memory modules just in case. Maybe one of the memory modules is defective. Try removing them one by one and test the laptop with only one module installed. Try different slots.

Hello,

Thanks for great tutorial. Got memory & HDD changed. When changed CPU, I have a GL 40 chipset on CQ 50 my screen just black even when all noise of working notebook is there. I re-assembled it back, it began to work. I updated BIOS to last F.65, tested it work fin on notebook than tried to switch CPU same problem (CPU Core2DUO T8300), return back - same problem. Even on all old hardware parts.

What can cause such behavior?

Thanks.

Thanks to your guide I've managed keep my old, beaten up but still faithful CQ60 running. Without you I would have struggled and broken something. I've now upgraded my laptops processor and cleaned out all the dust from inside. Great guide.

I had trouble with the web cam connector like some other people who made comments here and ended up breaking it as well. The plastic white connector that is used to connect the webcam to the motherboard is called a molex connector. Sometimes they just plain don't want to disconnect. I've seen some break before in laptops. Most likely it is due to the heat generated by the laptop that the molex connector degrades and possibly melts into place. I could not even get the rest of the molex connector out. I ended up using a very small flat head jewelers set screw driver and a finger nail to reseat the wires back into the molex connector until they were flush with the connector.

Just for future info i have just upgraded my neighbours Amd cq60 with a turion zm 86 2.4 Ghz cpu with no change in bios from 2009.
Benchmarks on cpu are very good about 20% better than the old athlon ql 62 and temps are lower with new thermal grease and copper shim mod on gpu.The 1mb extra l2 cache has made a difference.
Next upgrade ssd.
