Hi I have a acer aspire 5738zg laptop. Screen went blank but can see it with tourch. I replaced inverter tapped the connectors worked for 3 minutes then went blank again. Would I need a new screen

In reply to peter. @ peter, The laptop screen is white when it's not getting any data signal from the motherboard. Make sure the video cable is connected properly. Try reseating connectors on both ends.

I have replaced screen connect cables it lit when turn on but nothing appear on monitor
I plug a monitor I have for a loptop to the side that work ok but the screen not displaying any data it just stay white

Great tutorial… Mine loaded with a white boot screen (although you can see whats happening whith HDMI plugged in and connected to tv), I took a part and reseated the LCD connection on thop left by keyboard. Now it starts as black with some lines but when i pulve the screen back and forth it will change to what should be there on the bottom but still with lines… could the actual LCD Ribbon be bad?

Im planning on trying to replace the inverter, but can anyone tell me where the small switch operated by the screen lidthat may be stuck is located at?

this site gave me nice instructions what to do – although slightly different Acer model. Inverter board replaced, no change – then playing with small switch operated by screen lid pushbutton helped ! So happy now 🙂

The bottom right corner of my screen on my Acer 5336 started getting hot and a black spot appears on the screen. The spot is no bigger than the tip of my thumb but is hot and it smells like something is burning. Could this be an inverter problem? We just got the inverter replaced withing the last 2 months because of the screen going black. Thanks

In reply to gt23. @ gt23, You are correct. Most likely it's either failed inverter board or failed backlight lamp inside the screen. There is no way you can tell which one is failing without testing the laptop with a known good inverter or backlight lamp. If you don't have spare parts, try replacing the inverter board first. It shouldn't be very expensive. There is 50/50 chance it will fix the problem. If not, replace the screen. Also, this could be motherboard related issue but it's not very likely.
