Having ordered a touchpad assembly the stripdown was going well until I tried to disconnect the wifi cable(?), snakes to the r/h side.
The wires have pulled out of the connector.
This has stalled me and I am now wary of proceeding further.
Is there a recommended method to releasing these?

On my F572US, it appears the 'On-Off' slider that moves the wireless switch doesn't 'reach' the switch. Looking at your guide, it seems the switch is a simple A-B type. Is there a shortcut in the disassembly to remove the plastic slider? I'm thinking I could move the switch with a probe or maybe a pencil. Thanks!

I have a Presario F700 with a corrupt BIOS. I need to know if there is some way to update/repair the BIOS. The system boots up and informs me it can't load because it can not see the hard drive. Going into the setup program, you see there is no drive listed and the bios info is messed up. Appreciate any help you can provide.

Hi,
I just changed the two genuine 1 Go RAM memory sticks of my Compaq PRESARIO F730EF
for two Corsair VALUE SELECT 2 Go PC5300 sticks. It runs Windows SEVEN (64 bits Arium version).
The BIOS found 4 Go (without flashing it), and Seven found the same, 4 Go. Yeeepah !
Thanks for this very instructive and well illustrated webpage.

I just got one of these, second-hand, and it was filthy. I used these instructions to take it apart and clean it. Thank you SO much! However, I have a question about the die-cut clear plastic tape that's on the motherboard. It's got stuff all over underneath it. Can I safely remove this tape and not replace it?

JoniFill **IMPORTANT = the FLAT side goes UP on the CMOS battery
you MUST see the biggest FLAT level side must be UP on CMOS Battery when you looking down
at it in its round plastic holder..
So if you see the raised smaller center part of this CMOS Battery is facing UP= It is In WRONG!
 - and + are backwards if the smaller raised center we see on 1 side of this battery is facing UP
The correct way and ONLY way this round CMOS battery correctly goes is with the FLAT side UP!
 and Remember=
we MUST reset the TIME and Incorrect Year of 2006 that it revert back to by DEFAULT =
It ALWAYS resets back to 2006 when battery is removed or changed
at power on..press and release over and over "F10" to enter BIOS
and then F5 changes day/year/time #'s DOWN and F6 raises #'s hit ENTER after each section of each changed area is corrected. every time enter is pressed it saves correct info and moves to the NEXT part you need to Change to be current on Time and Year and date.. or IT WILL NOT Start correctly on the Next power up!! AAAaaaarrrgh!! but NOW we KNOW That ! = SUCCESSS

In reply to M Johnson.

@ M Johnson,

After disassembling the Compaq Presario F700 notebook I discovered that three almost microscopic capacitors of values of 220P50V/G looked as though they were toast. Can components this small be bought and replaced? Or is the motherboard un-fixable and needs replacing?

I doubt you can replace them at home. Also, there is good chance that some other components are damaged too.
I think the motherboard has to be replaced.
