Concerning my Toshiba Satellite C55D-B5310: If the screen does not work on my laptop when it is powered on, shouldn't plugging it in with an HDMI to a monitor/TV allow you to still use the laptop? I tried it and it doesn't, so does that mean there may be something more wrong with it than just the screen?

Hi, I just changed my cable to get the camera working - success!
Then failure :(
The screen is on when viewed with a light, but the back light has failed.
Is this likely to be a coincidence or have I done something wrong?
The new cable looks fine, as do the connectors (although I had an issue getting the one off the back of the screen).
Camera, mic & touch screen all work

Hello!

Thanks for the excellent tutorial. Purchased one of these for my wife last year and today found out that half of the screws holding the cover on are missing. I tightened the ones that remain but want to replace the missing ones. Any idea on a part number for them so that I can order more?

Thanks again.

I have a HP ProBook 4540s with a continuously blinking power led, even though the power cord is not attached but with the battery in place, that will not power on. Any suggestions on how to diagnose the cause of the blinking led and/or the unit not powering up would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. Thank you for your instructions along with annotated images on how to open up the laptop. They were very clear and easy to follow.
