You can actually run more than 4 GB of RAM in the M700, but you can do it by running Windows 7 in 64-bit mode. Some people have reported 6 GB working without problems; will 8 GB works is debatable. In addition, you can also upgrade chips in this laptop besides the RAM. It is one of the most expandable laptops out there.

Apparently, the author of this guide has deleted the post. I cannot find it either.

Thanks for the info, I opened the bottom slot but was wondering where the other memory module was. I wonder if this will void the warranty..
