Toshiba Portege M700 Tablet PC has two memory slots. One memory slot could be easily accessed through the bottom if you remove the cover. The second memory slot is hidden under the keyboard. If you want to remove and replace the memory module in the hidden slot, you’ll have to remove the keyboard as it shown in this disassembly guide.
You can install up to 4GB RAM into this Tablet PC. Up to 2GB memory module into each slot.
You should use DDR2-667MHz, PC2-5300 modules.
when building your laptop online, you have several memory options. 1 GB is standard. 2GB will cost you an extra $100. 4GB will cost you an extra $550.
You can a safe bunch of money if you order this laptop with a standard 1GB memory module installed and then upgrade it to 4GB yourself. The whole memory upgrade procedure shouldn’t take more then 10-15 minutes.

Thanks for the info, I opened the bottom slot but was wondering where the other memory module was. I wonder if this will void the warranty..

Andreas,
Apparently, the author of this guide has deleted the post. I cannot find it either.
Well…
I’ll created the disassembly guide myself very soon and post it at http://www.irisvista.com/tech/
I already took the pictures, now I have to compile them into a guide.

You can actually run more than 4 GB of RAM in the M700, but you can do it by running Windows 7 in 64-bit mode. Some people have reported 6 GB working without problems; will 8 GB works is debatable. In addition, you can also upgrade chips in this laptop besides the RAM. It is one of the most expandable laptops out there.

Hi, guys.
I’m the owner of original guide linked above. I have deactivated that old web site, but I’ve also set up a redirect to that guide’s new location. So clicking that link should take you there. If not, you can find it at -

Maybe the OP can update his article with the new link?
