My ASUS laptop is 16 months old. The hingefor the screen is broken – just from normal use – and I’ve ben quoted $299 and $200 to fix it ! This is rubbish. Parts not available in Australia – apparently. I think people need to be aware of this when buying Asus. Surely a plastic rod can’t be worht that much !

Probably the hinge itself is cheap and you are paying mostly for labor.
