This repair guide will help you to tighten loose hinges on an Aluminum PowerBook.
If you’ve got an Aluminium Powerbook, they are a great machine, but after a few years the hinge can get a little loose. Thankfully this is not like the old Titanium Powerbooks where the hinge was broken, it is just a matter of a few screws that need to be tightened!
Personally, I don’t repair PowerBooks but after reading this guide I found that disassembly steps for taking apart the display panel will be almost the same as for most notebook PCs. The only difference is that Aluminum PowerBookd doesn’t have screen bezel. Instead of removing the screen bezel you’ll have to remove the display back cover, as it shown on the fifth picture. Remove the display cover and tighten both hinges.
Static electricity can kill your laptop. I recommend wearing an anti-static wrist strap while working with internal parts of your laptop.
