Just for clarification it is the wire that can be seen in step 8. Apparently a 8 and a ) next to each other pulls up a cool guy.

So I was wondering if you could help me out. I changed my touch pad in my dv6324us and was un plugging the connector that goes to the LCD screen and the connector broke. (gold wire can be seen in picture associated with step 8) Is there any way you could tell me the color order of the wires starting from the left? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

gowtham,

how to replace my cmos batt in hp 6226tx. ur page is superb with pictures. thanku for this

It's very easy. The CMOS (RTC) battery is located in the memory compartment. You can see the CMOS battery in the step 4, it's on the left side from the Wi-Fi card.
Simply disconnect the old CMOS battery from the motherboard and plug in a new one. That's it.

Oscar,

I have the dv6815 and a few days ago, out of nowhere, it won’t boot up. I hit the power buttons, and the led lights will turn on for a second, it beeps and it sounds like the harddrive is kicking on, but then it just turns off. Nothing is visible on the screen since it only stays on for about 1 sec.

First of all I would test the AC adapter to make sure it outputs correct voltage. Maybe the voltage is wrong and it's enough to light up the ring around the power socket, but not enough to power up the laptop or charge the battery.

What happens if you plug the AC adapter when the battery is removed?

Bobby,

My wireless card stopped working like everybody else.
On your wireless card the Black wire is on the right and the Grey on the left. Mine is opposite, It has been in for repair once before for the same issue. could that be the prob?

This shouldn't be a problem. These cables are antennas for the wireless card. If in doubt, you can try connecting them like on my picture.

Like a few others when I press the power button the all the lights that are supposed to come on will light up for a second and then turn off.
It worked fine sat night, then I went to turn it on today and nothing, Maybe like 1 out of 15 tries the HD will kick on but then turns right off.

Any Ideas??

Probably same issue like with most dv2000, dv6000, dv9000 notebooks. HP knows about this problem. Read here:

Maybe you can get a free repair from HP.
