Taking apart Acer Travelmate 350 and replacing cooling fan

Take apart Acer Travelmate 350

With these disassembly instructions you can open up an Acer Travelmate 350 series laptop. The main purpose of this disassembly guide is replacing the failed cooling fan but also this guide can be used for removing and replacing the keyboard, wireless card (hidden under the keyboard) and other laptop components.

You should be able to take it all apart now and get to the fan. It’s a small and simple part — actually cheap, so they don’t last long. It’s called a “dish fan”. It’s the shaft type, and mine was making a lot of noise all on it’s own (not hitting anything). I got the manufacturer and part number from the back and hunted the net for the item. It’s found in some Sony Viao and other Acer models.

As you can see on the third picture, both memory slots can be accessed through the door on the bottom of the laptop, so you don’t have to take the whole thing apart.
Acer Travelmate 350 series laptop can handle up to 512MB memory total, up to 256MB module in each slot. You should use PC100 SDRAM DIMM modules.
