This guide will help you to replace memory modules in a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo L7300 laptop. In this laptop both memory slots are located under the keyboard, so it will be necessary to remove the keyboard first.
Memory replacement instructions:
STEP 1. Unplug the power adapter and remove the battery.
STEP 2. Using a sharp object, lift up one side of the keyboard bezel (power button cover). You can use a small flathead screwdriver.
STEP 3. Continue removing the keyboard bezel with your fingers.
STEP 4. After the keyboard bezel is removed you can remove the keyboard. Most likely the keyboard is secured to the laptop case by a screw/screws on the top (it’s not shown on the picture). Remove all screws securing the keyboard and carefully lift it up. Be careful because the keyboard is attached to the motherboard. Before you remove the keyboard, you’ll have to unlock the connector and release the keyboard cable. Very carefully lift up the brown clip on the connector and release the keyboard cable. WARNING! Do not separate the brown clip from the connector, just lift it up a little bit, maybe 1-2 millimeters. The brown clip is permanently attached to the connector and it has to stay attached as it shown on the picture 5. If you accidentally break the keyboard connector you’ll have to replace the whole motherboard.
STEP 5. Both memory slots are located under the metal cover on the left side. Remove screws securing the cover. Remover the cover.
STEP 6. Now you can remove, replace or upgrade the memory module. This laptop can handle 1GB RAM total, up to 512MB in each slot. You should use PC2700 DDR333 memory modules.
Using this guide you also can access laptop fan, heatsink, processor, and wireless card. If the cooling fan looks dirty, you can clean it up with compressed air.

When this machine was built, memory modules greater than 512mb were unheard of, or prohibitively expensive, so the manuals did not include the now generic 1 gb modules.
No one has bothered to update the manuals since then as new machines have superseded this model.

@ Max,
Thank you for your suggestion. If you don’t mind I’ll translate it into English (using Google translator)

grazie a tutti ,saluti !!

Thanks for the instructions. The manual says that an engineer is required to change the memory! With your guide it really was quite simple. I agree with the posts that say that the keyboard doesn’t need to be removed but I did remove it anyway to get access to remove all the dust from the fan and the heat exchanger grill.
Many thanks, Myles.

hi,
I did see somewhere that for the amillo l7320GW you can add 2 No. 1GB ram… which is what i was going to try but now i’m thinking that 2 No. 512mb RAM should be enough for me. still thinking about it.

Hi!
I’m just changed one of the two 256MB module to a PC3200 (DDR400) 1GB module.
The whole process was much more easier than i thought.
You don’t have to unplug the keyboard. It’s cable is long enough.
Changing the ram module was also easy.
Thanks for the guide and the posts!

Hi Laptop Tech
At last…..I have done it!
Following various trips abroad, I finally found an hour today to open up my old Amelo 7300 and I successfully fitted an additional 500MB of memory. Many thanks for your bits of help with this.
You might be interested in the following additional information:
1. Removing the keyboard bezel was easier than I had imagined, and it came away easily and without damage (and could easily be clicked back into place at the end).
2. The keyboard is fixed with just one screw – at the top. It can then easily be slid out and lifted.
3. It was NOT necessary to unlock the connector and release the keyboard cable. The cable was long enough to allow the keyboard to be turned over and laid face downwards at the bottom of the laptop.
4. The metal cover on the left side is secured with four screws. It can then easily be removed.
5. Inserting the memory module was the hardest task. It really had to be pushed in very hard before I felt that it was fully in (no click or other indication), which allowed the side little bits to engage easily. I was not fully convinced that it was correctly fitted until I switched on and found that the extra 500MB was recognised.
6. Putting everything back together again was relatively simple.
Thank you again for your support. The laptop is now working so much quicker!

Wasyl,
The only way to find out if your laptop can support 2GB is testing it with an additional 1GB RAM module.
Let us know if it works.
