This guide will help you to replace memory modules in a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo L7300 laptop. In this laptop both memory slots are located under the keyboard, so it will be necessary to remove the keyboard first.
Memory replacement instructions:
STEP 1. Unplug the power adapter and remove the battery.
STEP 2. Using a sharp object, lift up one side of the keyboard bezel (power button cover). You can use a small flathead screwdriver.
STEP 3. Continue removing the keyboard bezel with your fingers.
STEP 4. After the keyboard bezel is removed you can remove the keyboard. Most likely the keyboard is secured to the laptop case by a screw/screws on the top (it’s not shown on the picture). Remove all screws securing the keyboard and carefully lift it up. Be careful because the keyboard is attached to the motherboard. Before you remove the keyboard, you’ll have to unlock the connector and release the keyboard cable. Very carefully lift up the brown clip on the connector and release the keyboard cable. WARNING! Do not separate the brown clip from the connector, just lift it up a little bit, maybe 1-2 millimeters. The brown clip is permanently attached to the connector and it has to stay attached as it shown on the picture 5. If you accidentally break the keyboard connector you’ll have to replace the whole motherboard.
STEP 5. Both memory slots are located under the metal cover on the left side. Remove screws securing the cover. Remover the cover.
STEP 6. Now you can remove, replace or upgrade the memory module. This laptop can handle 1GB RAM total, up to 512MB in each slot. You should use PC2700 DDR333 memory modules.
Using this guide you also can access laptop fan, heatsink, processor, and wireless card. If the cooling fan looks dirty, you can clean it up with compressed air.

soso,
Check out this guide: http://www.exclaim.de/howtos/artikel/230_1/Akkulaufzeit-wie-ein-quotechterquot-Centrino.html
It’s in German. The guide explains how to remove the CPU but also shows how to access the cooling fan.
All you have to do is remove the keyboard and cover under the keyboard. Now sure if you can replace the fan without removing the motherboard but you can try.

HI I AM GOING TO BE ADDING MORE RAM THIS WEEK END I WOULD LIKE TO ACCESS THE PICTURES I HAVE LOOKED AT YOUR SITE BUT CAN NOT FIND THE LINK
February 7th, 2010 at 8:15 pm
ALLAN B,
I removed the link because it was dead.
The hardest part is removing the keyboard bezel but it’s not difficult. When the bezel removed, you can easily access both memory slots under the keyboard.

Is it possible to change graphics card for better one?
February 28th, 2010 at 6:21 pm
Raymond,
No, it’s not possible.
Take a look at the data sheet for Amilo L7300 notebook:
http://www.aocn.eu/FSCInfo/dox/1337056781.pdf
It says the laptop has integrated video with 64MB shared memory. The video chip is integrated into the motherboard and cannot be replaced or upgraded.

Hi – and thanks for this helpful advice. I have ordered the additional memory from Crucial. I looked everywhere for an opening to access the memory – but could only find the hard disk (underneath). I could not believe that one really had to remove the many screws on the back; now you have explained the puzzle!
I am anxious not to make a mistake and cause damage, and I would therefore love to see the other 4 pictures. Any chance please that you could kindly e-mail them to me or provide me with some form of link?
Many thanks again – and greetings from London.

Hi Laptop Tech
Am I to presume that you do not intend to reply to me – or are you away?
What a shame……reading above, it seemed that you were so helpful and skilfull.

Morley,
I do answer questions WHEN I know the answer. I’m getting tons of requests every day and if I don’t know the answer, I cannot answer all of them.
I don’t have this particular laptop and I cannot make more pictures.
You can take pictures while upgrading memory modules and when you done, send them to me. I’ll publish them in this guide.
Take a look at steps 10-13 in this guide: http://www.insidemylaptop.com/disassemble-gateway-mx-model-ma2a-series-laptop/
The keyboard removal should be similar to your laptop.
Just remove the keyboard bezel and you should find memory under the keyboard.
If you are afraid to damage the laptop, take it to the repair shop.

Morley,
Here’s what I found for you:
http://www.exclaim.de/howtos/artikel/230_1/Akkulaufzeit-wie-ein-quotechterquot-Centrino.html
The site is in German but has all pictures you were asking for.
Again, if you would like to help other people, take pictures and I’ll publish them in the guide.

Many thanks for these two answers Laptop Tech.
In fact, I am just off tomorrow morning, and will be away for a couple of weeks. I will therefore do this on my return, after trying to sort out the German, and will try to take pictures – if I have a free hand! – and let you have them. It may therefore take a while.
I would need an e-mail address to send them to.

I’m looking for any info about maximum ram modules and total maximum ram supported by F-S Amilo 7300.
Even in the manual, I see that maximum total ram for this notebook is 1GB (in two 512 modules).
A few days back, I bought 1GB PC2700 DDR333 and I’ve installed it in place of old one (Previously I’ve had 2 x 256MB).
To my great surprise, the notebook works perfectly and bios and Windows XP as well recognizes 1280 MB of RAM.
My question: How come? All the signs on heaven and earth suggest, that it’s impossible (even the manual), so anyone can help me with the answer? It’s vital for me, because I’m thinking about adding another 1GB RAM module.

Wasyl,
The only way to find out if your laptop can support 2GB is testing it with an additional 1GB RAM module.
Let us know if it works.

Hi Laptop Tech
At last…..I have done it!
Following various trips abroad, I finally found an hour today to open up my old Amelo 7300 and I successfully fitted an additional 500MB of memory. Many thanks for your bits of help with this.
You might be interested in the following additional information:
1. Removing the keyboard bezel was easier than I had imagined, and it came away easily and without damage (and could easily be clicked back into place at the end).
2. The keyboard is fixed with just one screw – at the top. It can then easily be slid out and lifted.
3. It was NOT necessary to unlock the connector and release the keyboard cable. The cable was long enough to allow the keyboard to be turned over and laid face downwards at the bottom of the laptop.
4. The metal cover on the left side is secured with four screws. It can then easily be removed.
5. Inserting the memory module was the hardest task. It really had to be pushed in very hard before I felt that it was fully in (no click or other indication), which allowed the side little bits to engage easily. I was not fully convinced that it was correctly fitted until I switched on and found that the extra 500MB was recognised.
6. Putting everything back together again was relatively simple.
Thank you again for your support. The laptop is now working so much quicker!
