hi, thanks for your post. im having trouble with my hp pavillion dv6709ea laptop: my spacebar is damaged as it wont come back up, i suspect something wrong with the spring, your retainer maybe. anyway, i was offered two repair guys quote: one cheaper using a replacement ‘copy’ keyboard from china; the other using a ‘original’ hp keyboard from a reseller. the difference is about £10. which one should i choose?

Does anyone know how to repair the audio on the HP Pavilion dv6000 Laptop? I tried to reinstall the Vista OS..no luck? It says that there is a audio driver issue. I tried to install several drivers without any luck either. Please help…..

You helped me make a decision. I bought a replacement keyboard at your e-bay source at a substantial discount to HP’s price and will try to play techie and replace it myself.

The only question I have is do I have to discharge the static from myself first?

I just wanted to say thanks for all the info on replacing the HP Keyboard!
I followed all the instructions and found it pretty easy. It saved me money and time. Thanks I really appreciate it and recommend it~!

I have keyboard for dv2000 – it is identic as dv6000 keyboard, but cable is wider (last connectors are not connected)

It’s possible but you’ll have to find another keyboard with same cable. In your case, the cable is different and it will not work.

Can I just cut cable to size?

No, you cannot.
