Replacing keyboard on HP Pavilion dv6000 series laptops

Let’s say you have a HP Pavilion dv6000 series laptops and the keyboard is not working or missing some keys. Can you fix it yourself? Yes, you can.
If the keyboard is missing one or two keys, probably you can fix it without replacing the whole thing using these key repair instructions.
If the keyboard has been damaged completely, let’s say you spilled something on it, or the keyboard has a stuck key, you’ll have to replace the keyboard with a new one. You can replace the keyboard if you follow these instructions posted by Kevin on his blog.

Since I recently had to replace a keyboard on a laptop, and couldn’t find any resources on replacing it for this model, I thought I’d go ahead and do a run-through for anyone else who may need this.

You can find a new replacement keyboard by the HP spare part number witch you can find on the opposite side of the keyboard. The part number will look like 431414-001 or 431416-001.

These part numbers should be compatible for all HP Pavilion dv6000 series models:

Most likely, if you buy this keyboard directly from HP it will cost you a fortune, so try alternative sources first. For example, you can find a very inexpensive replacements here.
