Let’s say you have a HP Pavilion dv6000 series laptops and the keyboard is not working or missing some keys. Can you fix it yourself? Yes, you can.
If the keyboard is missing one or two keys, probably you can fix it without replacing the whole thing using these key repair instructions.
If the keyboard has been damaged completely, let’s say you spilled something on it, or the keyboard has a stuck key, you’ll have to replace the keyboard with a new one. You can replace the keyboard if you follow these instructions posted by Kevin on his blog.
Since I recently had to replace a keyboard on a laptop, and couldn’t find any resources on replacing it for this model, I thought I’d go ahead and do a run-through for anyone else who may need this.
You can find a new replacement keyboard by the HP spare part number witch you can find on the opposite side of the keyboard. The part number will look like 431414-001 or 431416-001.
These part numbers should be compatible for all HP Pavilion dv6000 series models:
HP Compaq Pavilion DV6000T, DV6000Z, DV6000z, DV6040US, DV6045NR, DV6101eu, DV6104eu, DV6105US, DV6110US, DV6115eu, DV6116EU, DV6120US, DV6122ea, DV6122ea, DV6125se, DV6129US, DV6135nr, DV6135nr, DV6140ca, DV6140US, DV6150ca, DV6150US, DV6152EU, DV6157ea, DV6174EA, DV6187EA, DV6190EU
Most likely, if you buy this keyboard directly from HP it will cost you a fortune, so try alternative sources first. For example, you can find a very inexpensive replacements here.
UPDATE: Your HP Pavilion dv6000 notebook might be eligible for a free repair.

Hi,
is there posibility to adopt keybord from other model to dv6000?
I have keyboard for dv2000 – it is identic as dv6000 keyboard, but cable is wider (last connectors are not connected) Can I just cut cable to size?

It’s possible but you’ll have to find another keyboard with same cable. In your case, the cable is different and it will not work.

You helped me make a decision. I bought a replacement keyboard at your e-bay source at a substantial discount to HP’s price and will try to play techie and replace it myself.
The only question I have is do I have to discharge the static from myself first?

Does anyone know how to repair the audio on the HP Pavilion dv6000 Laptop? I tried to reinstall the Vista OS..no luck? It says that there is a audio driver issue. I tried to install several drivers without any luck either. Please help…..

hi, thanks for your post. im having trouble with my hp pavillion dv6709ea laptop: my spacebar is damaged as it wont come back up, i suspect something wrong with the spring, your retainer maybe. anyway, i was offered two repair guys quote: one cheaper using a replacement ‘copy’ keyboard from china; the other using a ‘original’ hp keyboard from a reseller. the difference is about £10. which one should i choose?
