The following instructions will help you to replace the keyboard on Acer Aspire 3600 series laptops. The disassembly steps should work for Acer Aspire 3610, 3620, 3630, 3640, 3660 and 3680 laptops.
Replacing the keyboard on your Acer Aspire 3610 laptop is not as difficult as it may sound. Make sure your computer is unplugged from any power source, then remove the battery.
The whole keyboard replacement process shouldn’t take more then 10 minutes.
1. You can find a new replacement keyboard for less then $25 here.
2. Follow these instructions to remove and replace the keyboard.
UPDATE: Apparently the publisher removed the guide because the link is dead. I removed the link. Removing and replacing the keyboard is very similar across most Acer laptops. Go to the Acer Laptops category in the right sidebar and read keyboard removal instructions for other models, you’ll get an idea how to replace the keyboard in your laptop.
Attention! Be very gentle with the keyboard connector on the motherboard.
Each side of the front of the connector has a small tab that lock the ribbon cable into place. To unlock the ribbon cable, using your fingernails, pull the two tabs out from the connector (only about 3mm) until the ribbon cable is loose and the keyboard can be removed.
If you break the keyboard connector, you’ll have to replace the entire motherboard or use the laptop only with an external keyboard.
UPDATE: I just created two more guides for an Acer Aspire 3620 laptop. Check them out here:
1. How to clean cooling module in Acer Aspire 3620 laptop. This guide explains how to disassemble the laptop and access the cooling modules. Basically, I’m taking the whole thing apart and removing the motherboard.
2. How to remove LCD screen and inverter board. In this guide I’m taking apart the laptop display panel.

How do I fix a noisy fan in my Acer Aspire 3620 notebook? Something may be stuck in the fan but I have been unsuccessful in blowing it out with compressed air. Can the fan be lubricated? I tried to take the bottom off the notebook with no luck. I took out all the screws on the bottom but the computer still seems to be snapped together very tightly.
Thanks for any help.

Carl Winters,
Most likely you’ll have to replace the fan. Apparently your fan has a bad bearing.
Most likely there are screws under the keyboard. Take a look at this disassembly guide. It’s a completely different laptop, but the disassembly steps should be very similar.

Chris,
Apparently, they removed this guide from their website.
Thanks for letting me know, I’m removing the link.
Go to the Acer category in the right sidebar. You’ll find many different guides for Acer laptops. Replacing the keyboard is similar for most models. Read through a few guides and you’ll get an idea how to replace the keyboard.
