This detailed step-by-step guide will help you to remove and replace the keyboard on an Everex StepNote laptop. These instructions will work for the following Everex StepNote models: NC1501, NC1502, NC1503, NC1510, NC1610, VA2000, VA2001, VA4100, VA4101, VA4103 and VA4300.
Be very careful with the keyboard connector on the motherboard shown in the steps 14-17. This connector is permanently soldered to the motherboard. If you break the connector your laptop keyboard will become nonfunctional and you’ll have to replace the whole motherboard or use the laptop with an external USB keyboard.
Static electricity can kill your laptop. I recommend wearing an anti-static wrist strap while working with internal parts of your laptop.

Janis,
Either you have a faulty keyboard or there is a problem with the keyboard controller on the motherboard.
You’ll have to replace the keyboard and if it doesn’t help, you’ll have to replace the motherboard.
