joeben,

I decided to disassemble the unit in order to view some solder problems on the bluetooth switch and the USB port. I resolder all contacts of both section. After that I reassemble the unit and bad things now happen.

You did some soldering job. It's possible you shorted something accidentally. I cannot tell.

You can try minimizing the laptop to bare bone system. In order to start with basic video (manufacturer's logo), all you need is the motherboard, CPU and memory. If the laptop doesn't start when minimized, probably this is motherboard related.

Here's what I'm talking about: http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2008/06/14/laptop-dead-troubleshoot-the-problem/

Maybe memory modules are not installed correctly? Check both memory modules. Try reconnecting them.

Thanks for quick reply. When I disassemble the unit I did not remove the memory on its original position. Anyway I just remove the 2pcs 1 gig memory and clean the contact with a pencil eraser and reconnect only one memory then try to power on and the same result. "Power on & HDD indicator lights up & cpu fan working and at 5 seconds it turns off. I've made also changing of memory from one slot to another even two memory inserted but same results.

I'am not sure if this is motherboard related. Very strange...'

When I turn on the unit, power and HDD indicator lights on a few seconds then turn off. Tried to disassemble the unit again several times to review connections but same problem occurred. Power & HDD indicator lights on when press power button then turn off after 6 seconds.

"Hi
my aspire 5315 has a broken screen. I purchased an external monitor which worked great and is bigger. Other day i did a “pc housework” but iv changed something which now does not allow my monitor diplay. Did fn f5 (think) it worked but it is inconvenient having laptop and monitor all on my desk. is it possible to remove laptop screen to use keyboard of laptop with monitor?"

I want to do the same, since a new screen just costs too much. How do I remove the hinges from the laptop case, or at least the long hinge "arms" that the screen was screwed into? I could just break them off, but I have small kids and don't want any sharp edges sticking out.

Thanks in advance!

I think you can do that. I doubt that your laptop requires the internal LCD to be connected in order to work with the external monitor.
You can unplug the internal LCD from the motherboard, remove the display panel and use your laptop as a desktop replacement, with the external monitor.

Here's the catch. The wireless card antenna cables are running INSIDE the display panel. If you want to remove the display panel, you'll have to disconnect the antenna cables from the Wi-Fi card. The wireless connection will not work without these cable. It's not a big deal if you are using wired Internet.
