Lu,

I got it fixed but now when it is running and I close the lid (or when I shut it down and it is in process of shutting off and I close the lid) there is a high pitched humming sound coming from the left back vent on the back of the vent where the hinge is near the cooling fan.

It's not a common failure and I'm not sure what's going on.
Maybe the high pitched sound coming from the bottom of the display panel, where the inverter board is located.
I'm thinking about inverter because the said the display has to be closed.
When you close the display, the backlight lamp goes. I'm thinking maybe the noise is coming form the inverter when it's not loaded. Just a guess.

my Intel presarioa V3000 Comaq laptop crashed. I got it fixed but now when it is running and I close the lid (or when I shut it down and it is in process of shutting off and I close the lid) there is a high pitched humming sound coming from the left back vent on the back of the vent where the hinge is near the cooling fan. the computer guy says this is normal and it means it is working but what is strange is that when I close it and it is running---and I put my hand on the computer or near it the pitch sound changes with the movement of my hand. Is this because the rotation of the fan is interacting with magnatism or something in the screen and the electro magnatic fields of my hand?
weird.
