I HAVE LAPTOP HP PAVILION ZV5000 THE PROBLEM I HAVE I WAS WACHTING MOVIE WENT TO MOVIE FINISH I GOT UP I TAKE BATH WENT I COME BACK TO MY LAPTOP I SEE MY LAPTOP BLACK LIKE BLUE I MOVE THE MOUSE STILL BLACK I TURN OFF MY LAPTOP WENT I TURN MY LAPTOP BACK I SEE THE LOGO FOR HP IS LIKE JUMPING I THEM THE SCREEN GOING BLACK I HEAR THE SOUND FOR WINDOW STAR I DONT SEE ANY IMAGE YOU PLEASE HELP ME HERE…THANK YOU

On my compaq presario dv6000, the screen went black but I can barely see the compaq and windows logo when starting the thing. I am thinking the backlight went bad, took it apart and see the backlight bulb is in the hinge mechanism. I was told by a comp fixit guy that my screen needs to be replaced because the bulb is inside it. Am I getting a load of buffalo fodder or what??

Most likely it’s either bad inverter board or backlight lamp failure.
I would definitely try replacing the inverter board first. It’s not difficult. In most laptops the inverter board is mounted below the LCD screen and all you have to do is unplug two cables and replace the inverter.
If replacing the inverter board doesn’t help, most likely you have a bad backlight lamp inside the LCD screen. It’s very hard to replace the backligth lamp because it’s located INSIDE the LCD screen. If you’ve never done it before, I would suggest replacing the entire LCD screen.

I cant get a schematic on how the thing is put together and the screen cover I cant get off the hinge, so I am stumped Would appreciate any info you have

Laptop disassembly instructions are available through HP website in the maintenance and service manual.

Do you have a Compaq Presario v6000 or HP Pavilion dv6000? I think you mixed them together.

I got it fixed but now when it is running and I close the lid (or when I shut it down and it is in process of shutting off and I close the lid) there is a high pitched humming sound coming from the left back vent on the back of the vent where the hinge is near the cooling fan.

It’s not a common failure and I’m not sure what’s going on.
Maybe the high pitched sound coming from the bottom of the display panel, where the inverter board is located.
I’m thinking about inverter because the said the display has to be closed.
When you close the display, the backlight lamp goes. I’m thinking maybe the noise is coming form the inverter when it’s not loaded. Just a guess.

my Intel presarioa V3000 Comaq laptop crashed. I got it fixed but now when it is running and I close the lid (or when I shut it down and it is in process of shutting off and I close the lid) there is a high pitched humming sound coming from the left back vent on the back of the vent where the hinge is near the cooling fan. the computer guy says this is normal and it means it is working but what is strange is that when I close it and it is running—and I put my hand on the computer or near it the pitch sound changes with the movement of my hand. Is this because the rotation of the fan is interacting with magnatism or something in the screen and the electro magnatic fields of my hand?
