This step-by-step laptop disassembly and upgrading guide will explain how to remove the cooling fan and replace the processor in a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo Pro v2030.
You can easily access the cooling module from the bottom of the laptop if you remove the cover.
1. Removing and cleaning the cooling fan.
In order to remove the fan you’ll have to remove two screws and unplug the fan cable from the motherboard. If the heatsink is clogged with dust, clean it up using compressed air.
Cleaning the cooling module once in two or three months will help you to avoid the well-known overheating problem, when your laptop runs very how and shuts down without any warning in the middle of doing something.
2. Replacing, upgrading the processor.
You can speed up your laptop by upgrading the processor as the author explains in great details.
I decided to make this tutorial because I couldn’t find any good info when I decided I wanted to upgrade the 1500 Celeron M processor in my Amilo Pro V2030 to a Pentium M of a higher speed, the Processor I decided upon was a 1700 Pentium M with a 2MB cache.
You can search for this processor here.
If you replaced the processor and after that your laptop for some reason stopped booting, make sure the processor is properly seated in the socket and the socket is LOCKED.
