Removing DVD drive from a Toshiba Satellite P100 laptop
Can someone pleas tell me how to remove the DVD drive from a Toshiba Satellite P100 laptop?
I want to replace it for another one because this one is not working well.
It is not very easy to remove the DVD drive from this model because the drive is secured under the keyboard. I took some pictures from a Satellite P105 laptop, this model is similar to P100. Here are disassembly steps that you can follow.
NOTE: you can damage the laptop during disassembly. Continue at your own risk. ![]()
Step1
Unplug the AC adapter and remove the laptop battery.
I do not have this laptop in front of me but I believe you also have to remove one screw witch is marked with a red circle. Update: you don’t have to remove the screw on the bottom.

Step2
In order to remove the keyboard you have to remove the keyboard bezel first. Lift up one side of the bezel with a small flathead screwdriver and then continue removing it with your fingers. Under the bezel you’ll see six silver screws securing the keyboard. Remove them.

Step3
It is not necessary to disconnect the keyboard as it shown on my picture, just flip it over and place upside down on the palm rest. Now you can remove one screw with secures the DVD drive to the laptop base and slide the drive out of the laptop. After the DVD drive is removed you’ll have to transfer the mounting bracket to a new DVD drive.
