How to remove dust from a Toshiba Tablet PC screen

Do yo have a Toshiba Tablet PC with dust inside the screen? I know, it’s very annoying. Here’s how you can remove dust from inside of a Toshiba Tablet PC screen. I created these instructions for a Toshiba Portege M200/M205 but they should work for a Satellite R10/R15 and other laptops as well.

Taking apart Toshiba Tablet PC screen

First, you’ll have to remove screw seals from the screen cover. For that you can use a small flathead screwdriver. In my case there are two sticky screw seals on the top of the screen cover and four rubber plugs on the bottom. Remove all six screws securing the screen cover.

Separate LCD screen cover

Now you can start removing the screen cover. For that I usually use a guitar pick. Insert the guitar pick (or any other piece of soft plastic) between the display covers and slowly move it along the side until all plastic latches are disengaged.

Remove LCD cover clean dust

Finally, remove the screen cover. In order to remove dust, you’ll have to clean both the back side of the screen cover and LCD screen with soft cloth. Assemble everything back together.

I have a compaq presario v6000 laptop, and recently it has stopped working. When I power it up all the blue lights come on , but the screen won’t come on, and when it is first powered up the blue lights will go off for a second every 30 seconds or so. If I put a disk in it you can tell it is spinning. When I touch the volume keys it still ,makes the beep noise like it usually does. It smells fried where my cooling fan is. Does anyone know if a burnt out cooling fan could cause this? Or have any ides why it is doing this and how to fix it? Or know how to take it apart to get to the cooling fan so I could look around in there lol. Thanks!!!!
