
These instructions explain how to properly remove and replace laptop memory modules. The guide was made for a Gateway laptop but will work for most other brands and models.
WARNING! Static electricity in your body can damage the memory module.
Before you touch the memory module do not forget to remove static electricity from your body.
touch a grounded metal object once in a while to remove any charge from your body. Touching a water tap works extremely well as does touching a corner of a wall where there is metal stripping under the plaster.
Basically, you can remove a laptop memory module in three easy steps:
1. Spread the latches on each side of the memory module until it pops up at a 30 degree angle.
2. Grab the memory module by the edges. Do not touch chips on the memory module.
3. Carefully pull the memory module from the slot.

Static electricity can kill your laptop. I recommend wearing an anti-static wrist strap while working with internal parts of your laptop.
