Installing main components into Asus laptop

Asus barebone system

This tutorial show how you can build your own laptop from an Asus barebone laptop system. I’m not sure if you are going to build your a laptop yourself. I’m not even sure if this is a good idea at all, but the tutorial might be very helpful for all Asus laptop owners.
The guide has instructions for accessing and installing main laptop components such as: processor, cooling fan, heatsink, memory, wireless card and hard drive.
Here are some tips for all DYI-ers:
1. Be very careful with the laptop processor. When you remove it, do not touch pins because you can bent them and the processor will not feet into the socket on the motherboard. Handle the processor by the edges. Before you can remove the processor from the socket on the motherboard, you have to unlock the socket by turning the screw into the “Open” position. After you install the processor back in place, do not forget to lock the socket or your laptop will not start.
2. Cooling fan has to be plugged into the motherboard. If you forget to plug it in, the laptop will overheat.
3. Before you install the heat sink, do not forget to apply a thin layer of thermal grease on the top of the processor. Thermal grease helps to conduct heat from the CPU to the heat sink. If you run your laptop without thermal grease, you can damage the processor.
4. When you install the memory module make sure it is properly locked inside the memory slot. If the memory module is not making a good contact with pins inside the memory slot, your laptop will not start or will give you a beep error (depends on the model) when you turn it on.
5. There are two antenna wires connected to the wireless card. The wireless card has two connectors - Main and Auxiliary. I believe the white cable should be connected to the main connector on the card and the black one to the auxiliary connector, but it shouldn’t really matter because both antenna wires are similar. Even if one of the antenna cables is damaged, you can get a good signal with only one cable (white or black) connected to the main connector.
