How to install more memory into Samsung Q30 Plus notebook

Samsnung Q30 Plus notebook memory upgrade

This tutorial explains how to install more memory into a Samsung Q30 Plus notebook. This notebook comes with 512MB memory (256MB integrated into the motherboard and 256MB module installed in the memory expansion slot). So, there is only one memory slot available for upgrades. You’ll have to remove the original 256MB memory module installed into the memory expansion slot and replace it with a larger stick.

The author of this tutorial was able to upgrade his Samsung Q30 notebook to 2.25GB even though the official site says you cannot install more then 768MB.

Official site will claim - even today - that this notebook cannot be upgraded with more than 512MB of memory, making a grand total of 768MB. Luckily, in this industry nothing is set in stone. When I talked to Samsung tech support, technician was not sure will the board support more than 512MB module or not. Like we have already wrote - nothing is set in stone, so yours truly ordered 2GB DDR2-667 Value stick from Corsair

On a Samsung Q30 notebook the memory expansion slot is located under the keyboard. In order to upgrade notebook memory you’ll have to remove the keyboard.
It’s not difficult. Simply removed six screws on the bottom of the notebook and then lift up the keyboard with a flathead screwdriver. You’ll find the memory expansion slot right under the keyboard.

These days you can find a new 2GB DDR2-667 notebook memory here for under $50. Personally, I would go with known brands as Corsair or Kingston.

Also, you can use this tutorial for removing and replacing the notebook keyboard.
