What about the Drive?

I have a Inspiron 6400 and was wondering what type of ram i should use for it… it has 1gb and i was thinking about using a 1gb ram i took from my Vostro 1700.

You should use PC2-4200/5300 DDR2 SDRAM SODIMMs (or faster RAMs).
Your laptop will take up to 2GB total and it has 2 sockets.
You can install up to 1GB RAM module into each socket.

Dell Vostro 1700 uses PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM SODIMMs and they should work just fine in your Dell Inspiron 6400 unless they are 2GB modules. As I mentioned above you can install up to 1GB into each slot in your Inspiron 6400.
