Installing a Bluethooth card into your Dell Inspiron 1520/1521 or Dell Vostro 1500 laptops will not take more than 5 minutes. You can easily install the Bluetooth card yourself and this upgrade will cost you about $20.
The Bluetooth card mounts between the securing tabs witch could be found under the keyboard bezel above F10, F11 and F12 keys.
Also, you’ll find detailed instructions in the Dell Inspiron 1520/1521 and Vostro 1500 service manual.
You can find a new Bluetooth 2.0 Module 355 for Dell laptops here.
in your package, you will receive several stickers. To abide by the FCC laws, you must adhere one of these to the bottom portion of your laptop.

@ Mr T,
Maybe your laptop requires a different Bluetooth module, not 355?

I’ve brought one of those 355 bluetooth modules, however, after connecting it, changing the settings within the BIOS so that is now “installed” according to the BIOS, I can’t seem to get it to work. I’ve tried to download the driver but it requires me to press “FN+F2″ or use the radio switch. when doing this it just doesn’t seem to work!
Help?! cheers!

sherif shams,
Did it work before? Did you reinstall the operating system?
It’s possible you’ll have to install the driver. Go to Dell website and find downloads for your Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop.
In the chipset category download and install Ricoh driver.

Sam,
Don’t you have it installed already?
1. Find and buy a new bluetooth module for your laptop.
2. Download this service manual for Inspiron 1318 laptops.
3. Go to Internal Card With Bluetooth® Wireless Technology chapter and read on. You’ll have to remove the keyboard in order to access the bluetooth place.

You can’t purchase the wireless bluetooth module from that website unless you are purchasing a laptop there. Anyone know anywhere else to get this from. Thanks.

Kevin Watkin,
In a Dell Inspiron 1525/1526 the Bluetooth card also located under the keyboard cover, but on the opposite side of the case. It’s closer to the left hinge as yo can see here.
First, you’ll have to remove two screws securing the cover. They are located in the battery compartment. After that, you can lift up the cover with a small flathead screwdriver. You’ll find detailed instruction here.
