This video explains ho to take apart an Acer Aspire 5580 series laptop. A very nicely done tutorial. I found it on YouTube and couldn’t miss the opportunity to share this guide with you.
The video walks through the disassembly process of the entire laptop.
According to the comments posted after the video:
Acer aspire 5580/5570/3680 have the same configuration and same structure.
If this guide works for your Acer laptop, please mention the model number in the comments below.

Nice video! I have Acer Aspire 5570z. You say the directions for disassembly are identical. That is great. I wonder how far I would want to go with the disassembly if I just wanted to thoroughly vacuum the inside of the main unit? Thanks!

Matt,
Dust collects mainly in the cooling module. If you remove the top cover assembly (time in the guide 5:00) you’ll get an access to the cooling fan.
Remove the top cover and spay air into the fan until the cooling module is clean and all dust is gone. Don’t forget to block the fan so it doesn’t spin when you spray air.

This video is excellent and accurate. I completely stripped my asian market model 5580. It was entirely correct including components not on my model. I’d never have otherwise managed it. I don’t think i’ll buy another acer though if such drastic action is needed to clean inside the fan. Thank you!

Hey, Laptop Tech, Thanks for your explanation! Glad to hear this will work for the Acer 5570z as well. This machine has been chugging along for me for over 3 years now, and, aside from some minor quirks, such as trouble getting from sleep after being disconnected from power (maybe related to the drained battery I never replaced??), I had no other problems. But I will come back for instructions on opening and cleaning.

A very nice video indeed, right now i have a hardware problem with my laptop 5580 Acer series. The problem is, my laptop doesn’t want to turn ON when i press the power switch. But the power is delivered to the battery as i insert also the battery, the charging light is on. I’ve only guest that the cause of the problem is from the damaged component of the mother board or the power board(video at the 6:35 until 6:48 minutes), is there any correct way on how to trouble shooting or detect the problem. Because i need to know what are the parts that’s broken and i want replaced it if that’s possible. I’ve thinking to replaced the components such as capacitors, resistors, etc.. which might damage by de-soldering it and soldering back with OK components. Hope you can give some good advice Thank you! (+.+)
