Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo A1630 laptop overheats. How to clean the cooling fan.

Does your Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo A1630 laptop overheats and shuts down by itself? The cooling fan runs all the time and it’s noisy? Most likely it happens because the CPU heat sink is clogged with dust witch kills normal airflow through the heat sink. As a result that, the CPU overheats and the laptop shuts down. In order to clean the laptop, you’ll have to take it apart as it shown on this page. It’s not difficult. You’ll have to remove 11 screws securing the cover on the bottom of the laptop and then take the cover off. The CPU heat sink is located under that cover.
Under the cover you’ll find two heat sinks with two fans. The CPU heat sink has copper pipes, it’s located close to the lower left corner. The second heat sink removes heat from the video chip, Northbridge, and some other important chips on the motherboard.
IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO REMOVE THE HEAT SINK FROM THE LAPTOP IN ORDER TO CLEAN IT UP.
You can clean up both heat sinks and fans with compressed air without removing them from the laptop. Just spray the air inside the fans until all dust is gone. You can buy compressed air in any local computer store.
You’ll have to remove the CPU heat sink only if you decide to replace thermal compound between the heat sink and the CPU. Other then that, don’t touch it.
UPDATE:
I just found another tutorial witch explains how to remove the cooling module cover from the bottom of the laptop.

Make sure that you always use your laptop on a flat hard surface and ensure that the cooling vents are not blocked so air can circulate. If you don’t want to use it on a desk, you could use a chopping board or piece of wood.
I would recommend cleaning the cooling module every few month. This 10 minute procedure will help to keep your laptop cool and quiet.
