I have a pavillion 9600 and I did a system recovery and ever since my dvd won’t work. I tried taking it out after removing power supply and battery. I went to device manager and it doesn’t show the drive. My friend has the same computer, so I took out the drive and put it in his. It worked fine. Does anyone have any idea on what to do?

David,
My left hinge was broke and it still has not fixed the lower half of my screen going haywire when i move it back and forth.. Are the wires pinch or something need replaced?
Could be pinched video cable or LCD screen failure. It’s hard to tell without replacing one one them.
I would try replacing the video cable first.
Thanks for your help … How can i tell if its lcd failure?.. and where can i get a new video cable?
