Here are instructions for fixing or replacing the keyboard on a Dell XPS m1330 laptop. If you purchased a Dell XPS m1330 laptop and it came with a bulging keyboard, this tutorial is what you are looking for.
my roommate bought this recently from Dell Home Outlet, and he was a bit pissed that the keyboard was bulging — after spending about $1000, he (we) thought that it would’ve been a bit better quality. So he called dell, told them the issue, and they set out to send him a replacement. The dell tech said that it is known that some come with a bulge, and some don’t
The bulge in the keyboard occurs because one of the cables running under the keyboard is not seated properly.
For those who want to just quickly know exactly what the problem is and do it RIGHT NOW, the issue is with the WiFi cable and the tubing is in — it seems to be too thick and inflexible to sit flat like it should
In order to fix this problem, you’ll have to partially disassemble the laptop and remove the keyboard, it’s not difficult if you follow the instructions.
Are you looking for a new Dell XPS m1330 keyboard? You can find one here for $15-20.
In addition to instructions for removing and replacing the keyboard, the author explains how you can access some main laptop components such as CMOS battery, RAM modules, Wi-Fi card, processor, heat sink and cooling fan. This could be very handy if you decide to upgrade laptop memory, clean the cooling module or replace thermal paste on the processor.
By the way, you can access both memory modules through the bottom.

IS it possible to upgrade the video card on a dell xps m1330?

TJ,
I believe you cannot upgrade the video card in this laptop because it’s integrated into the system board. If you would like to get a better video card you’ll have to replace the whole motherboard.
There are two different motherboards with two different video cards:
1. Intel® Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
2. 128MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8400M GS

[...] It’s very easy to upgrade memory in a Dell XPS M1330. Fortunately, you don’t have to disassemble the laptop because both memory slots are accessible through the bottom. All you have to do is remove the memory cover from the bottom and you’ll see both RAM slots right in there. [...]

best 20 ever spent, it took a month for the keyboard to get here from Hong Kong but its well worth the money spent, super easy to replace, two screws under the battery, flip over and remove hinge covers(pry with a little flat head), carefully pop up the media controls, unscrew the two screws at the top of the keyboard, flip up the ribbon hinge keeper, remove the cable, remove the keyboard, and bam, do the opposite with the new one, took less than 10 minutes.! Keys feel a lot softer with the Vostro 1400 keyboard and don’t feel so plastic y/fake. Thanks!

Is it possible to upgrade the processor on the m1330? currently have the 2.0ghz t7300 in mine and was interested in maybe adding in one of the newer processors such as the t9300 or t9500. Would t be just a case of buying and popping old one off and replacing with new module? Thanks for any help with this.
