This guide explains how you can fix a problem with the power connector in a Compaq Presario M2200 notebook. This model also known as HP Compaq Pavilion ze2200.
If you are experiencing problems with the power, for example, notebook will not start from AC adapter or it works on AC power for a while and later switches to the battery power by itself, there is a good chance that your problem is related to the power connector a.k.a. power jack.
In this model the power connector is not attached to the motherboard directly, it’s located on a DC power board. You’ll have to remove the DC power board and resolder the power connector or replace the entire board. You can find a new DC power board if you search on the Internet for this part number DA0CT2PB6D8, but it’s kinda expensive.
For the laptop disassembly please refer to the laptop maintenance and service guide (4.5MB PDF file).
The information and procedures included in this Maintenance and Service Guide apply to all Compaq Presario M2200 Notebook PC models and to the following HP Pavilion ze2200 Notebook PC models:
■ ze2201AP ■ ze2201XX ■ ze2202AP ■ ze2203AP ■ ze2204AP ■ ze2205AP ■ ze2206AP ■ ze2207AP ■ ze2208AP ■ ze2209AP ■ ze2209XX ■ ze2210AP ■ ze2211AP ■ ze2250EA ■ ze2281EA
Here’s one more thing. Before you blame the power connector in your laptop, test the AC adapter. It’s possible that there is nothing wrong with the power connector and you have a problem with the AC adapter. You can test the AC adapter with a regular voltmeter, make sure it puts out correct voltage.

The solder job in that guide is one of the worst I’ve ever seen.

Yep, it doesn’t look great. Apparently the power jack was resoldered by an inexperienced guy. But if it works it works.
You can use this guide for replacing a broken power jack.
