If your Toshiba Satellite M35X laptop is dead (out of warranty) and you would like to fix it yourself, you should take a look at this post. Apparently there could be a problem with the MAXIM chip witch is located on the motherboard, on the right side from the video cable connector.
Official service centers will list buying a new motherboard as the only solution for this problem. However, a new motherboard is not the only solution. Fixing the old motherboard is a better, faster and incomparably cheaper option. The entire process of opening up, repairing and reassembly of the laptop will not take about an hour.
This guide is only for experienced technicians. You have to be able to disassemble the laptop, remove the motherboard and resolder the problematic chip.
Also, Toshiba Satellite M35X is know for the following problems:
1. Overheating – when the cooling module gets clogged with dust.
2. Power jack failure. In this case you’ll have to remove the motherboard and resolder the power jack.

I am very interested in receiving your guide to repair dead Toshiba Satellites. I have an A105 that I disassembled to clean the heat sink. When reassembling I had difficulty with plugging in the video. When I attempted to turn it on, no power. No response whatsoever. I probably put too much pressure there.
I also must fix a loose power jack too.
