You have an Acer Aspire 5000 series laptop. The power port (DC jack) inside the laptop got broken and of course the laptop is out of warranty. What can you do? You can take it to a repair shop and pay tons of money OR fix the laptop yourself.
Thanks to Charles for his Acer Aspire 5000 disassembly instructions. The power connector is soldered to the motherboard and in order to replace the connector you’ll have to take the whole laptop apart and remove the motherboard. If you feel uncomfortable taking the laptop apart, do not even try it. You can damage the laptop.
In short, you’ll have to go through three easy steps 
1. Disassemble the laptop.
2. Resolder or replace the power connector AKA power jack.
3. Assemble the laptop back together.
You can use these power jack repair techniques.

My acer laptop cooling fan making noise and can you fix. how can i make the noise stop.

If the fan started making noise, I guess it’s time to replace the fan.
On some Acer laptops the cooling fan could be accessed from the bottom.
Take a look at the Acer Aspire 5100 disassembly guide for example. The cooling fan is removed in the step 5.

I have a acer aspire 5610 and it fall so its not displaying anything and the fan turns a little when yu switch it on can somebody help me with a new motherboard or a solution of what it could be becoz the charger is charging the on light is on and it does not display and the fan rotates on the instant of switching it on

First of all, check the memory modules. It’s likely that when you dropped the laptop, the memory module got dislocated and now it’s not making a good contact with the motherboard.
Reseating the memory module might fix the problem.

I have a Acer Aspire 3680 that the dc jack has gone out on, twice, the first was under warranty, of course now it is not. The tech told me I could buy one from them for almost a hundred bucks but I find them all over the net for less than 10 bucks. The tech also told me that it is not soldered in, it clips in. Do I still have have to take apart most of the computer to get to that part or is there a way to replace just that part?

There is no easy way to replace the jack. The whole laptop has to be disassembled.
Here are instructions for taking apart an Acer Aspire 3620 laptop.
I think this model is similar to Acer Asprire 3680. Read the guide and decide if you can handle the power jack replacement yourself.

Hi i have a acer 5610 would i be able to use a screen from the acer 5100??? i found a non working acer 5100 for 20$ just wondering if they are compatible i know they are both 15.4″
Finally the grey one is an Acer aspire 5100 for parts, powers on, does nothing
Good battery, LCD, 2GB RAM, brand new keyboard, Webcam
Motherboard is no good, attempted a solder job, failed miserably

I opened my laptop and put the power port back in place, but the computer still doesn’t charge. I’m running on my last bit of battery life now. I’m thinking maybe the power cord is damaged but I’m not sure. This is a bad time for me cus I’m supposed to be working on a Comic.
Any suggestions?

My daughter’s Acer Aspire 5000 screen has lines in it and sometimes you can’t see anything. It will correct itself if you tap on the back of the screen sometimes, but sometimes you have to reboot and it will work. I’ve seen replacement screens that include a screen inverter, will the screen inverter itself correct the problem or do I need to replace screen, inverter and hinges (which come with the actual screen). Any suggestions would be great.

I have a Acer Aspire 7535 & it was working perfectly fine when I bought it but after almost a year of having it the power outlet is starting to not want to bare with me. Here’s the problem…I think the outlet is loose because one minute it’ll beep saying it’s charging then it’ll beep again saying it’s not charging. I have NO CLUE whatsoever how to fix it. I’m not good at disassembling things either, help!

i have an acer 5735z. recently the carger port has broken. the tiny spoke in the middle has become loose and will only work when i have the charger held in particular ways. however, when it does work it takes forever to charge but drains really quickly. could you tell me on average how much this chould cost to replace and also how much people may charge. simply beacuse i have no idea what to do with comps. please help before my laptop dies. taXX

Make sure it’s not a problem with the AC adapter cable. It’s possible the DC jack is good but the cable on the AC adapter is bad.
You’ll have to test AC adapter voltage with a voltmeter. If voltage cuts off when you move the cable, probably it’s bad cable.
Most likely this is bad battery. The battery has to be replaced.

Hi
I have an Acer Aspire 7735Z. And the power jack has come loose.
I’m not sure if it requires re-soldering yet. The issues we have is that we cannot get into the casing unit to remove it. We have managed to take the laptop apart, its just the actual power jack casing (its located in the hinge of the laptop) and we can not get into it. Any idea’s?

I also have this problem and the beeping noise is driving me up the wall.

I have just repaired a laptop with just this problem. Has you have already done the majority of dis assembly I will start my instructions from the point were I assume you are.
1) Unplug LCD from motherboard & unscrew the hinge mounting from the laptop base & lay the LCD/Bezel assembly flat ( you may have to remove the wireless antenna cables from their tracks to give you enough play)
2) Removed front bezel from LCD
3) disconnect the the mike & webcam connectors from the LCD.
4) Unscrew the LCD from the hinges & remove it.
5) Unscrew Left hinge assembly from bezel & lift it out.
6) Unscrew the plastic cover from the inside of the hinge & remove – there is a lug to manipulate too.
7) You will now see that the power jack is located in an hollow on the underside of the hinge & can be pulled out using horizontal force.
