Let’s say the LCD screen on your laptop has gone bad or got broken. Now you have to replace the screen but not sure witch one to buy. The best way to find a new replacement screen by the part number from the original LCD screen, as it explained in this tutorial.
If you install a wrong LCD screen in the best case scenario it will not work, in the worst case scenario it may damage the motherboard.
The part number is located on the back of the LCD screen. You’ll have to disassemble the laptop display panel, remove the screen and take a look on the back.
In order to take apart the display panel you’ll have to follow this steps:
1. Remove screw covers from the LCD bezel.
2. Remove screws located under the covers.
3. Separate the screen bezel from the screen cover with your fingers and remove the bezel.
4. Remove screws securing the LCD screen to the hinges/brackets.
5. Carefully place the LCD screen face down on the keyboard. Be careful, the screen is connected to the video cable.
6. Find the screen part number. In our case the screen is made by LG and the part number is LP141×2.
You can find a new replacement screen if you Google by the part number.
