This guide will help you to dismantle a Toshiba Tecra A4 notebook. This partial notebook disassembly guide should be enough for most home users to replace commonly failing parts such as hard drive, memory and keyboard.
The hard drive and both memory modules could be accessed through the bottom of the notebook, just remove the covers.
Update: I deleted the link to the original guide because the guide has been removed and I cannot find it anymore. Check out instructions for a Satellite M45 laptop at www.irisvista.com/tech/ it should be very similar to Tecra A4.
Need spare parts for your Tecra A4 notebook? Search here.
Tecra A4 notebook comes with a 4200RMP SATA hard drive. If you want to speed up your notebook you should replace it with a faster 5400RMP or even 7200RPM SATA drive.
You can install maximum 2GB memory in this notebook, up to 1GB into each slot. You should use DDR333 PC2700 modules.
In order to replace the keyboard, you don’t have to remove any screws from the bottom. Just follow pictures 9,10,11. Remove the keyboard bezel, unscrew the keyboard, unplug it from the motherboard and replace with a new one.
Static electricity can kill your laptop. I recommend wearing an anti-static wrist strap while working with internal parts of your laptop.

Read through the guide for a Satellite M45 laptop. I believe it’s very similar to Tecra A4.
