Disassembly manual for Compaq Presario R3000 notebook
This disassembly manual will help you to take apart a Compaq Presario R3000 notebook and will be very helpful if you want to replace the LCD screen or get an access to the internal notebook parts.

The first part of the manual pictures how to disassemble the display panel and remove the LCD screen.
There are two things that need to be disconnected before completely removing the screen. The first item is the video cable which can be removed by pulling it out from the back of the screen. The second item is the power cable which can be removed by pulling it out from the power module thing.
The “power module thing” is the screen inverter board. The inverter board works as a power supply for the screen backlight. When inverter goes bad the LCD screen looses backlight. You still can see the image but it’s very dark.
You can find spare parts (LCD screen, video cable, inverter board, hinges, plastic parts, etc…) for your Presario R3000 notebook here.

The second part of the manual explains how to remove the notebook base. This part will be very helpful if you decide to clean the notebook cooling module - heat sink and fans. There is no easy access to the cooling module on this notebook, you’ll have to remove the base.
You’ll find the cooling module in the top left corner. If the cooling module is clogged with dust you can clean it using compressed air without removing the heat sink. Just spray compressed air into the fans until there is no dust inside the heat sink.
The official service manual (with disassembly instructions) is available from the HP/Compaq website. You need to download the Maintenance and Service Guide.
