Here’s another great tutorial from BiXNET.com
These instructions will guide you through CD/DVD drive removal and replacement on some HP and Compaq laptops. This tutorial should work for the following laptops:
Compaq Evo Notebook N1050v, N1010v
Compaq Presario 1100, 2100, 2500
HP Pavilion ze4100, ze4200, ze4300, ze4400, ze4500, ze4600, ze4700, ze5200, ze5300, ze5400, ze5500, ze5600
HP nx9000, nx9005, nx9008, nx9010
If your CD/DVD drive is bad and you are looking for a replacement, I would recommend to search by the part number witch you can find on the drive.
The HP/Compaq part number usually looks like this 430205-001 (six digit number – three digit number). Of course, different drives have different part numbers, but they look similar. I mentioned that so you know what number to look for on the drive.
If you install a wrong CD/DVD drive it may not work properly and may not be recognized by the laptop at all.
