<p>Today I will be removing and replacing the LCD screen in an IBM ThinkPad T43p laptop. You can use same set of instructions for ThinkPad T43 and some other IBM (now Lenovo) laptops.</p>
<p><strong>Failure description:</strong> the laptop starts with a reddish screen (white color appear to be pink). After a minute or two the backlight goes completely off but you still can see a very faint image on the screen if you look very closely. When you restart the laptop, the screen lights up again but a minute later the light goes off.</p>
<p><strong>Solution:</strong> the laptop has a failing backlight lamp which is a part of the LCD screen. The whole screen has to be replaced.</p>
<p>You can try <a title="Replacing laptop backlight lamp" href="http://www.laptoprepair101.com/laptop/2007/12/09/replace-laptop-backlight-ccfl-lamp/" target="_blank">replacing just the backlight lamp</a> without replacing the screen, but it&#8217;s not easy and should be done only by an experienced technician.</p>
<p><span id="more-505"></span></p>
<p><script type="text/javascript"><!--
google_ad_client = "pub-5093339941473059";

google_ad_height = 280;
// --></script><br />
<script src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js" type="text/javascript"></script></p>
<p>Let&#8217;s disassemble the display panel and remove the LCD screen.</p>
<p><strong>STEP 1.</strong></p>
<p>Carefully remove four screw seals from the bottom part of the display bezel.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove screw covers from bezel" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/IBM-ThinkPad-T43p-display/remove-lcd-screen-inverter-02.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>You can remove them with a sharp object.</p>
<p>Remove all four screws found under the seals.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove screws from bezel" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/IBM-ThinkPad-T43p-display/remove-lcd-screen-inverter-03.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 2.</strong></p>
<p>Remove three screws (found under seals) from the left side of the display panel.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove screw covers from right side" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/IBM-ThinkPad-T43p-display/remove-lcd-screen-inverter-04.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 3.<br />
</strong></p>
<p>Remove four screws (found under seals) from the right side of the display panel.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove screw covers from left side" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/IBM-ThinkPad-T43p-display/remove-lcd-screen-inverter-05.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 4.</strong></p>
<p>The display bezel is glued to the LCD screen with sticky tape. You can separate the bezel using a guitar pick (as I do) or another piece of plastic.<br />
Insert the guitar pick between the display bezel and screen and carefully move it along the side until the bezel is separated.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Separate display bezel from LCD screen" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/IBM-ThinkPad-T43p-display/remove-lcd-screen-inverter-06.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 5.</strong></p>
<p>Continue removing the display bezel with your fingers.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Start separating display bezel from cover" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/IBM-ThinkPad-T43p-display/remove-lcd-screen-inverter-07.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 6.</strong></p>
<p>The screen inverter is mounted under the bezel and can be replaced without removing the bezel completely. I&#8217;ll remove the display bezel because I have to replace the LCD screen.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Access inverter under display bezel" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/IBM-ThinkPad-T43p-display/remove-lcd-screen-inverter-08.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 7.</strong></p>
<p>The display bezel has been removed.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove display bezel" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/IBM-ThinkPad-T43p-display/remove-lcd-screen-inverter-09.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 8.</strong></p>
<p>In order to confirm the backlight lamp failure I did the following experiment.<br />
I unpluged the LCD screen from the right side of the inveter board and pluged in an known good backlight lamp. After that I turned on the laptop and tested it with my backlight lamp for about 10 minutes. My backlight lamp didn&#8217;t turn off and worked fine all time. That means the backlight lamp inside the screen is bad.</p>
<p>If your laptop doesn&#8217;t work with a known good backlight lamp, most likely you have a problem with the inverter board.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Test screen with another backlight" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/IBM-ThinkPad-T43p-display/remove-lcd-screen-inverter-10.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 9.</strong></p>
<p>Unplug the inverter board from the video cable.<br />
Remove the inverter board.</p>
<p>Do you need a new inverter board? Find a <a rel="nofollow" href="http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&amp;pub=5574673312&amp;toolid=10001&amp;campid=5335918710&amp;customid=ThinkPad+T43p+inverter&amp;mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.com%2Fi.html%3F_nkw%3Dthinkpad%2BT43p%2Binverter%26_sacat%3D0%26_trksid%3Dp3286.m270.l1313%26_odkw%3Dthinkpad%2BT43p%2Bscreen%26_osacat%3D0" target="_blank">new inverter here</a>.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove inverter board" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/IBM-ThinkPad-T43p-display/remove-lcd-screen-inverter-11.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 10.</strong></p>
<p>Carefully separate the LCD screen from the display cover. Do not forget to release the cable with night lamp. Simply pull the cable from the display cover.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Release screen lamp" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/IBM-ThinkPad-T43p-display/remove-lcd-screen-inverter-12.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 11.</strong></p>
<p>Now you can access the back side of the LCD screen and unplug the screen cable.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Access LCD screen cable" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/IBM-ThinkPad-T43p-display/remove-lcd-screen-inverter-13.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>Remove sticky tape securing the connection and pull the cable connector from the LCD screen.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Unplug cable from LCD screen" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/IBM-ThinkPad-T43p-display/remove-lcd-screen-inverter-14.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 12.</strong></p>
<p>Remove the LCD screen from the laptop.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove LCD screen from laptop" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/IBM-ThinkPad-T43p-display/remove-lcd-screen-inverter-17.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>The LCD screen has been removed.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="LCD screen removed" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/IBM-ThinkPad-T43p-display/remove-lcd-screen-inverter-15.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>Be careful with this piece of plastic. Try not to remove it from the display because it will take some time to figure out how to connect it back together.<br />
I believe this piece of plastic is designed to prevent the screen cable from breaking when you close the display.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Be careful with this plastic piece" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/IBM-ThinkPad-T43p-display/remove-lcd-screen-inverter-16.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 13.</strong></p>
<p>Remove two screws securing the display mounting brackets.<br />
Remove the bracket and move it to a new LCD screen.<br />
Do the same with the bracket on the other side of the screen.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove LCD screen brackets" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/IBM-ThinkPad-T43p-display/remove-lcd-screen-inverter-18.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>You can find a new LCD screen using two different part numbers from the back side of the defective screen:<br />
1. The model number of the LCD screen. In my laptop it is N150U3-L01<br />
2. FRU part number. In my laptop it is 92P6753.</p>
<p>Looking for a new screen for your IBM ThinkPad T43/T43p laptop? You can find a <a rel="nofollow" href="http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&amp;pub=5574673312&amp;toolid=10001&amp;campid=5335918710&amp;customid=ThinkPad+T43p+screen&amp;mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.com%2Fi.html%3F_nkw%3Dthinkpad%2BT43p%2Bscreen%2B%26_cqr%3Dtrue%26_nkwusc%3DThnikPad%2BT43p%2Bscreen%26_rdc%3D1" target="_blank">brand new screen here</a>.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Find new screen using part numbers" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/IBM-ThinkPad-T43p-display/remove-lcd-screen-inverter-19.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>

<p>In this guide I&#8217;ll be removing the LCD screen and inverter board from a Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop. You can use same set of instructions for a Dell Inspiron E1705 and probably some other Dell laptops. If my guide works for you, please mention the laptop model in the comments below.</p>
<p><span id="more-418"></span>Need a new LCD screen for your Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop? Find it <a rel="nofollow" href="http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&amp;pub=5574673312&amp;toolid=10001&amp;campid=5335918710&amp;customid=Inspiron+9400+LCD&amp;mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.com%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp3907.m38.l1313%26_nkw%3DInspiron%2B9400%2Bscreen%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories" target="_blank">here for less than $100</a>.</p>
<p><script type="text/javascript"><!--
google_ad_client = "pub-5093339941473059";
/* IML-InPost-336x280, created 5/14/09 */

google_ad_width = 336;
google_ad_height = 280;
// --></script></p>
<p><script src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js" type="text/javascript"></script></p>
<p>Like in most other laptops, in this model the LCD screen is mounted between the display cover and front bezel. You&#8217;ll find eight screw seals on the front bezel. Six rubber seals (red circles) and two plastic seals (green circles).</p>
<p>Remove rubber seals using a sharp object. Glue these seals somewhere on the front bezel so they don&#8217;t get lost.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove rubber seal" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-9400-LCD/removing-screen-inverter-02.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>Remove two plastic seals using the same tool. Also, glue them somewhere on the front bezel.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove plastic seal" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-9400-LCD/removing-screen-inverter-03.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>Remove all eight screws found under the seals.</p>
<p>When all screws are removed you can start separating the front bezel from the display cover.  Use your fingers and a piece of soft plastic. In this guide I&#8217;m using a guitar pick.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Separate screen bezel from cover" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-9400-LCD/removing-screen-inverter-04.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>Continue separating the front bezel.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Continue removing screen bezel" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-9400-LCD/removing-screen-inverter-05.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>The front bezel has been removed.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Screen bezel removed" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-9400-LCD/removing-screen-inverter-06.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>There are screws securing the LCD screen to the hinge bracket. You&#8217;ll find four screws on each side.</p>
<p>Remove four screw on one side of the display panel.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove screws from side of LCD" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-9400-LCD/removing-screen-inverter-07.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>And after that remove four screws on the other side of the panel.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Screws on other side LCD" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-9400-LCD/removing-screen-inverter-08.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>Now you can separate the LCD screen assembly from the cover.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Separate LCD screen assembly from cover" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-9400-LCD/removing-screen-inverter-09.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>Be careful, there is a video cable connecting the LCD screen and inverter board to the motherboard.<br />
Place the LCD screen on the palm rest so you can access the video cable and unplug it from the LCD screen and inverter.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Video cable connects LCD to motherboard" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-9400-LCD/removing-screen-inverter-10.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>Press on latches on both sides of the video cable connector and pull it from the LCD screen.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Unplug video cable from LCD screen" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-9400-LCD/removing-screen-inverter-11.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>Unplug the other end of the video cable from the inverter board.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Unplug LCD cable from inverter board" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-9400-LCD/removing-screen-inverter-12.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>Now you can remove the LCD screen and inverter board. As you see, the inverter board is attached to the LCD screen frame. It&#8217;s very common setup for Dell laptops.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove LCD assembly" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-9400-LCD/removing-screen-inverter-13.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>The inverter board is mounted inside the metal casing which is a part of the LCD screen frame.<br />
Remove one screw securing the inverter board and turn the LCD screen upside down.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove one screw securing inverter board" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-9400-LCD/removing-screen-inverter-14.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>Unplug the backlight cable from the inverter board.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Disconnect and remove inverter board" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-9400-LCD/removing-screen-inverter-15.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>Carefully remove the inverter board from the metal casing and replace it with a new one if needed. You can buy a new inverter board <a rel="nofollow" href="http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&amp;pub=5574673312&amp;toolid=10001&amp;campid=5335918710&amp;customid=Inspiron+9400+inverter&amp;mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.com%2Fitems%2F%3F_nkw%3DInspiron%2B9400%2Binverter%26_sacat%3D0%26_trksid%3Dp3286.m270.l1313%26_odkw%3DInspiron%2B9400%2Bscreen%26_osacat%3D0" target="_blank">here for about $15-20.</a><br />
When you buy a new LCD screen for your Dell laptop, it might come with the inverter board already attached to it. It&#8217;s very common. If that&#8217;s the case, you don&#8217;t have to remove the old inverter.</p>

<p>In this guide I explain how to remove and replace a damaged LCD screen in a HP Pavilion dv2000 notebook. This guide should work for all models in Pavilion dv2000 line.</p>
<p>By the way, this HP Pavilion dv2000 is like a small copy of <a title="HP Pavilion dv6000 notebook" href="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/remove-replace-lcd-screen-inverter-hp-pavilion-dv6000-laptop/" target="_self">HP Pavilion dv6000 notebook</a> and all disassembly steps will be very similar.</p>
<p>Before you start, please turn off the laptop, unplug the power adapter and remove the battery.</p>
<p><span id="more-309"></span></p>
<p><script type="text/javascript"><!--
google_ad_client = "pub-5093339941473059";
/* IML-InPost-336x280, created 5/14/09 */
google_ad_slot = "2088981528";
google_ad_width = 336;
google_ad_height = 280;
// --></script><br />
<script src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js" type="text/javascript"></script></p>
<p><strong>STEP 1.</strong></p>
<p>The LCD screen is mounted between the display cover and bezel. The screen bezel is secured to the display cover by six screws hidden under six screw seals. I circled these screw seals.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove screw seals" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/HP-Pavilion-dv2000-LCD/replacing-damaged-screen-02.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>Remove all seals with a sharp object and after that remove all screws found under the seals.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Removing screw seals" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/HP-Pavilion-dv2000-LCD/replacing-damaged-screen-03.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 2.</strong></p>
<p>Start separating the screen bezel from the display cover on one of the top corners.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Separate LCD bezel from cover" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/HP-Pavilion-dv2000-LCD/replacing-damaged-screen-04.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>Continue separating the screen bezel.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Continue separating screen bezel" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/HP-Pavilion-dv2000-LCD/replacing-damaged-screen-05.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>Remove the screen bezel.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove cable from screen inverter" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/HP-Pavilion-dv2000-LCD/replacing-damaged-screen-06.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 3.</strong></p>
<p>The inverter board works as a power supply for <a title="Notebook backlight lamp" href="http://www.laptopparts101.com/screen-backlight-ccfl-lamp/" target="_blank">the backlight lamp</a> hidden inside the LCD screen. In most notebooks the inverter board is mounted below the LCD screen. In my guide I will not be removing the inverter board and because of that I will unplug only one cable from the right side.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Unplug cable from inverter board" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/HP-Pavilion-dv2000-LCD/replacing-damaged-screen-07.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 4.</strong></p>
<p>Remove four screws securing the display hinges to the cover.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove screws from display hinges" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/HP-Pavilion-dv2000-LCD/replacing-damaged-screen-08.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 5.</strong></p>
<p>Carefully separate the display assembly from the cover and place the LCD face down on the keyboard.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Separate LCD screen from cover" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/HP-Pavilion-dv2000-LCD/replacing-damaged-screen-09.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>Now you can access the LCD cable (video cable) connector. The LCD cable connects the screen to the the motherboard.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Access LCD cable" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/HP-Pavilion-dv2000-LCD/replacing-damaged-screen-10.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 6.</strong></p>
<p>Unplug the LCD cable from the screen.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Unplug LCD cable from screen" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/HP-Pavilion-dv2000-LCD/replacing-damaged-screen-11.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 7.</strong></p>
<p>Remove the LCD screen assembly from the notebook. As you can see, the screen still has two mounting brackets attached to the left and right sides.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove LCD screen" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/HP-Pavilion-dv2000-LCD/replacing-damaged-screen-12.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 8.</strong></p>
<p>In order to remove the mounting bracket, simply remove three screws. Transfer the bracket to the new screen.</p>
<p>Are you looking for a new screen for your HP Pavilion dv2000 notebook? You can <a rel="nofollow" href="http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&amp;pub=5574673312&amp;toolid=10001&amp;campid=5335918710&amp;customid=Pavilion+dv2000+LCD+screen&amp;mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.com%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp3907.m38.l1313%26_nkw%3DHP%2BPavilion%2Bdv2000%2Bscreen%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories" target="_blank">find it here</a> for less than $70.</p>

<p><strong>STEP 1.</strong></p>
<p>There are three screw seals on the bottom of the display bezel. These seals hide three screws securing the display bezel to the display cover.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove screw seals from display bezel" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Lenovo-X60s-screen/replace-broken-LCD-screen-02.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>You&#8217;ll have to remove all three screw seals with a sharp object and after that remove three screws.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove screw seal" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Lenovo-X60s-screen/replace-broken-LCD-screen-03.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 2. </strong></p>
<p>There are three screw seals on each side of the display assembly. Remove TWO seals I marked from each side of the display. Remove screws found under those seals.</p>

<p>Continue separating the bezel.</p>
<p>The inverter board is located below the LCD screen. In order to access and remove the screen inverter it&#8217;s not necessary to remove the bezel completely.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Lift up display bezel" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Lenovo-X60s-screen/replace-broken-LCD-screen-06.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>

<p>In this guide I will remove the LCD screen and FL inverter board from an Acer Aspire 3620. The guide will work for other Acer Aspire models. If it works for your, please mention the model number in the comments below.</p>
<p>You&#8217;ll find my first disassembly guide for the same Acer Aspire 3620 in the previous post where I explained <a title="Clean cooling module in Acer Aspire 3620" href="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/clean-cooling-module-acer-aspire-3620/">how to remove the motherboard and clean the cooling module.</a></p>
<p>Let&#8217;s start taking it apart.</p>
<p><span id="more-234"></span></p>
<p><script type="text/javascript"><!--
google_ad_client = "pub-5093339941473059";
/* IML-InPost-336x280, created 5/14/09 */
google_ad_slot = "2088981528";
google_ad_width = 336;
google_ad_height = 280;
// --></script><br />
<script src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js" type="text/javascript"></script></p>
<p><strong>Step 1.</strong></p>
<p>You&#8217;ll find four rubber plugs in four corners of the LCD screen bezel. Remove these plugs with a sharp object and glue them somewhere on the bezel so they don&#8217;t get lost. Remove four screws hidden under the rubber plugs.</p>
<p><img title="Remove screw seals" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Acer-Aspire-3620-LCD/remove-screen-inverter-board-02.jpg" alt="Remove screw seals" /></p>
<p><strong>Step 2.</strong></p>
<p>Start separating the screen bezel with your fingers. I found it&#8217;s easier to separate the bezel if you start from the top.</p>
<p><img title="Separate LCD bezel from display cover" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Acer-Aspire-3620-LCD/remove-screen-inverter-board-03.jpg" alt="Separate LCD bezel from display cover" /></p>
<p>Continue separating the bezel. Be careful with the display latch, it has to stay attached to the screen cover.</p>
<p><img title="Continue removing LCD bezel" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Acer-Aspire-3620-LCD/remove-screen-inverter-board-04.jpg" alt="Continue removing LCD bezel" /></p>
<p>Finally, remove the LCD screen bezel.</p>
<p><img title="Display bezel removed" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Acer-Aspire-3620-LCD/remove-screen-inverter-board-05.jpg" alt="Display bezel removed" /></p>
<p><strong>Step 3.</strong></p>
<p>You&#8217;ll find the screen inverter board also known as FL inverter mounted below the LCD screen. Remove two screws securing the inverter board.</p>
<p><img title="Remove screws from FL inverter board" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Acer-Aspire-3620-LCD/remove-screen-inverter-board-06.jpg" alt="Remove screws from FL inverter board" /></p>
<p><strong>Step 4.</strong></p>
<p>In order to remove the inverter board, you&#8217;ll have to unplug two cables.</p>
<p>The black cable on the left side is connected to the motherboard. It supplyis power to the inverter board from the motherboard.<br />
The cable one the righ side is connected to the backlight lamp inside the LCD screen.</p>
<p>Now you can replace <a rel="nofollow" href="http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?type=4&amp;campid=5335918710&amp;toolid=10001&amp;customid=Aspire+3620+LCD+inverter&amp;mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.com%2Fitems%2F%3F_nkw%3DAspire%2B3620%2Binverter%26_sacat%3D0%26_trksid%3Dp3286.m270.l1313%26_odkw%3DAspire%2B3620%2Bscreen%26_osacat%3D0" target="_blank">the inverter board</a> with a new one if needed.<br />
I&#8217;m not going to remove the LCD screen because I&#8217;m taking it apart just for this guide.</p>
<p><img title="Unplug cables from FL inverter board" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Acer-Aspire-3620-LCD/remove-screen-inverter-board-07.jpg" alt="Unplug cables from FL inverter board" /></p>
<p><strong>Step 5.</strong></p>
<p>Remove two screws securing the LCD screen brackets to the hinges.</p>
<p><img title="Remove screws from LCD hinges" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Acer-Aspire-3620-LCD/remove-screen-inverter-board-08.jpg" alt="Remove screws from LCD hinges" /></p>
<p>Now you can separate the LCD screen assembly from the cover and access the back side of the screen.</p>
<p>In order to remove the LCD screen assembly you&#8217;ll have to unplug the video cable first.</p>
<p><img title="Unplug video cable remove LCD screen" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Acer-Aspire-3620-LCD/remove-screen-inverter-board-09.jpg" alt="Unplug video cable remove LCD screen" /></p>
<p>After the video cable is unplugged, you can remove the  LCD screen assembly (screen and mounting brackets).</p>
<p>If you are replacing the screen with a new one, you&#8217;ll have to transfer mounting brackets to the new screen. You can find a new screen for your Acer Asprie 3620 (and any other Acer laptop) <a rel="nofollow" href="http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?type=4&amp;campid=5335918710&amp;toolid=10001&amp;customid=Aspire+3620+LCD+screen&amp;mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.com%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp3907.m38.l1313%26_nkw%3DAspire%2B3620%2Bscreen%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories" target="_blank">here</a>.</p>

<p>I have seen a few Toshiba Satellite M305 and M305D laptops with exactly the same display problem. When you move the display panel, the image on the screen flickers, some random horizontal lines appear in random places or the image disappears at all. As soon as you stop moving the display, the image ether turns back to normal or the display continue to remain black.</p>
<p>I did some research and found that this problem could be related to the display cable made by CMI.</p>
<p>How can you tell if the display cable was made by CMI? You&#8217;ll have to open up the display panel and take a look at the letters and numbers below the barcode on the cable. If first three letters are CMI, the cable was made by CMI.</p>
<p><span id="more-229"></span></p>

google_ad_height = 280;
// --></script><br />
<script src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js" type="text/javascript"></script></p>
<p>The following models could have a faulty display cable: Toshiba Satellite M300, M305, M305D and Toshiba Satellite Pro M300.</p>
<p>If you experience a similar problem with your Satellite M305 or M305D laptop, <a title="Replace laptop display cable" href="http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-M305/remove-screen-inverter-video-cable-1.htm" target="_blank">try replacing the display cable</a> first. If the problem still exists, even after replacing the cable, apparently it&#8217;s related to the LCD screen.</p>
<p>If the laptop is still under warranty do not open the case or you will lose the warranty. Take your laptop to the authorized repair center.</p>

<p>In this guide I&#8217;ll be removing and replacing the LCD screen and removing the inverter board from a HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop.</p>
<p>As you see on the picture above I&#8217;m fixing a HP Pavilion dv6000 series laptop with a bad LCD screen. The lower part of the screen displays garbled image and the upper part works just fine. An external monitor displays image properly. So it&#8217;s bad screen and it has to be replaced.</p>
<p><span id="more-223"></span>By the way, you&#8217;ll find <a title="HP Pavilion dv6000 disassembly guide" href="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/take-apart-hp-pavilion-dv6000-laptop/">another disassembly guide</a> for the same laptop in my previous post.</p>
<p><strong>STEP 1.</strong></p>
<p>There are six rubber screw covers on the LCD screen bezel. You&#8217;ll have to remove all covers.</p>
<p><script type="text/javascript"><!--
google_ad_client = "pub-5093339941473059";
/* IML-InPost-336x280, created 5/14/09 */
google_ad_slot = "2088981528";
google_ad_width = 336;
google_ad_height = 280;
//-->
</script><br />
<script type="text/javascript"
src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
</script></p>
<p><img alt="Remove screw covers" title="Remove screw covers" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/hp-pavilion-dv6000/remove-replace-lcd-screen-inverter-02.jpg" /></p>
<p>You can remove covers with a sharp object.</p>
<p><img alt="Removing screw cover" title="Removing screw cover" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/hp-pavilion-dv6000/remove-replace-lcd-screen-inverter-03.jpg" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 2.</strong></p>
<p>Remove six screws found under the rubber covers.</p>
<p><img alt="Remove screws from LCD bezel" title="Remove screws from LCD bezel" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/hp-pavilion-dv6000/remove-replace-lcd-screen-inverter-04.jpg" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 3.</strong></p>
<p>Insert fingers between the screen bezel and display cover and start separating them.</p>
<p><img alt="Separate LCD bezel" title="Separate LCD bezel" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/hp-pavilion-dv6000/remove-replace-lcd-screen-inverter-05.jpg" /></p>
<p>Continue removing the bezel. Be careful, the bezel made of fragile plastic.</p>
<p><img alt="Continue removing bezel" title="Continue removing bezel" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/hp-pavilion-dv6000/remove-replace-lcd-screen-inverter-06.jpg" /></p>

<p><img alt="LCD bezel removed" title="LCD bezel removed" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/hp-pavilion-dv6000/remove-replace-lcd-screen-inverter-07.jpg" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 4.</strong></p>
<p>Now you can get an access to the <a title="Laptop screen inverter" target="_blank" href="http://www.laptopparts101.com/screen-inverter-board/">screen inverter</a> which is mounted below the screen.</p>
<p>Remove one screw securing the inverter board. Disconnect cables on both sides of the inverter board.</p>
<p><img alt="LCD screen inverter board" title="LCD screen inverter board" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/hp-pavilion-dv6000/remove-replace-lcd-screen-inverter-08.jpg" /></p>

<p>Do you have a Toshiba Tecra M4 or Satellite R15 Tablet PC? The display is loose and wobbly? Probably it&#8217;s time to tighten the display hinge.
