In this guide I explain how to remove LCD screen from a Dell Inspiron 1318 laptop.

Also, I’ll show how to separate the inverter board from the screen.

Dell Inspiron 1318 might have two different screen types installed:

1. CCFL backlit LCD screen – screen with backlight lamp inside. This screen requires the inverter board. That’s the one I’ll be taking apart in the following guide.
2. LED backlit LCD screen. This screen doesn’t require the inverter board.

I’ll explain how to find the correct replacement LCD screen at the end of the guide.

STEP 1.

Turn off the laptop and remove the battery.

STEP 2.

Start separating the screen bezel from the back cover on the top of the display assembly.

Insert your fingers between the bezel and screen and wiggle the bezel.

There are hidden plastic latches securing the screen bezel. When you wiggle the bezel you’ll be able to disengage the latches.

STEP 3.

Continue separating the bezel on the top of the display assembly.

STEP 4.

After that move to the lower part of the bezel.

Carefully lift up the part of the bezel which covers the hinges.

STEP 5.

Remove the bezel from the laptop.

STEP 6.

Remove six screws securing the LCD screen assembly to the display back cover.

STEP 7.

Separate the screen from the back cover and place it face down on the keyboard.

STEP 8.

Now you can access the back of the screen and LCD harness (video cable).

One part of the harness is connected to the inverter board. The second and is connected to the LCD screen.

If your Dell Inspiron 1318 laptop has a LED-backlit LCD screen there will be NO inverter board.

When you have LED LCD the video cable will have only one connector plugged into the screen.

STEP 9.

Unplug connector from the inverter board.

STEP 10.

Remove sticky tape securing the video cable connector.

Disconnect cable from the LCD screen.

STEP 11.

Now you can remove the LCD screen assembly from the laptop.

STEP 12.

Like in many other Dell laptops, the screen inverter is mounted on the bottom side of the screen.

In the following three steps I’ll show how to separate the inverter board from the screen.

STEP 13.

Disconnect one cable from the left side of the inverter board.

STEP 14.

Remove one screw securing the inverter board to the mounting bracket.

STEP 15.

Remove the inverter board from the bracket.

NOTE: most likely the inverter board will be glued to the mounting bracket with double sticky tape.

You’ll have to insert something between the inverter and bracket and separate it.

You can find a new replacement screen using the Dell part number from the back of the original screen.

You can see it on the following picture. The part number is six digits and letters after CN-.

In my Dell Inspiron 1318 laptop the screen has the following part number: 0C117J.

You can skip “0″ while searching for a new screen. Just search for C117J.

You can search for new Dell Inspiron 1318 replacement screen here.

If your screen has a different part number just use the search box.

Again, make sure to buy the correct screen type: CCFL backlit LCD screen or LED backlit LCD screen.

If you are buying a CCFL LCD screen, I would advice to buy one with the inverter board attached. In this case there will be no compatibility issues between the inverter and screen.

In this guide I show how to remove and replace broken screen on Acer Aspire 5560 series laptops.

Most likely this guide will work for some other Acer Aspire models. If it fits your laptop please mention the model number in commends after this post.

Acer Aspire 5560 uses a LED-backlit LCD screen which is not very expensive. I’ll explain how to find a compatible replacement screen at the end of this guide. Let’s go though the screen removal procedure first.

In the following guide I explain only how to replace the screen. If you need to disassemble the laptop base, check out my previous Acer Aspire 5560 guide.

Before you start make sure the laptop is turned off.

STEP 1.

Unlock and remove laptop battery.

STEP 2.

You’ll find two screw covers on the lower part of the screen bezel.

STEP 3.

Remove both screw covers with a sharp object and glue them somewhere on the bezel so they don’t get lost.

Remove both screws found under covers.

STEP 4.

Start separating the screen bezel from the display cover on the upper part of the display.

Carefully insert your fingers between the bezel and LCD screen and wiggle the bezel. There are hidden plastic latches securing the bezel.

STEP 5.

Continue separating the screen bezel from the display cover.

When it’s separated on the top of the display, move to the lower part.

STEP 6.

The screen bezel removed.

STEP 7.

Remove four screws securing LCD screen mounting brackets to the display back cover.

STEP 8.

Before you separate the screen from the cover, it’s necessary to disconnect the web camera cable.

The web camera module mounted above the screen and it’s not a part of the screen.

Unplug the cable from the left side of the web camera.

STEP 9.

Now separate the display back cover from the LCD screen.

Be careful, the video cable and web camera cable still attached to the screen.

STEP 10.

The web camera cable is part of the video harness.

The web camera cable glued to the screen with double sticky tape. Separate this cable from the screen.

STEP 11.

Remove sticky tape securing the video cable connector.

STEP 12.

Disconnect the video cable from the connector on the LCD screen.

STEP 13.

Remove two screws securing the LCD screen to the right hinge bracket.

STEP 14.

Remove two more screws securing the screen to the left hinge bracket.

STEP 15.

Now you can remove the damaged screen and replace it with a new one.

Assemble the laptop following steps in the opposite direction.

As I mentioned at the beginning of this disassembly guide, Acer Aspire 5560 laptop has an LED-backlit LCD screen installed.

The best way to find a new compatible screen is searching by the model number which is printed on the back side of the original screen.

Here’s my screen part number: LP156WH2 (TL)(EA). You can find a new replacement screen here.

If you have a different screen installed, just search by the model number as I did.

In this post I explain how to replace LCD screen on Lenovo G560 laptop.

My Lenovo G560 laptop had an LED-backlit LCD screen installed. I’ll explain how to search for a compatible replacement LCD screen at the end of this post.

Before you start laptop disassembly make sure it’s turned off and battery removed.

STEP 1.

You’ll have to remove six screw covers located on the screen bezel.

Two covers on the lower part of the bezel and four more covers on the upper part of the bezel.

You can remove screw covers with a sharp object.

After all covers removed, remove six screws securing the screen bezel to the LCD back cover.

STEP 2.

Insert your fingers between the screen bezel and LCD back cover as it shown on the following picture.

Wiggle the bezel a little bit and start separating it from the back cover.

There are hidden plastic latches securing the bezel.

STEP 3.

Continue separating the bezel on the display sides.

You can use a small piece of soft plastic for that. Insert it between the bezel and back cover and slowly move along the side. At the same time continue removing the bezel with your fingers.

STEP 4.

The screen bezel has been removed.

STEP 5.

Carefully separate the LCD screen from the back cover so you can access screws on the side.

These screws securing the LCD screen to the mounting bracket.

Remove four screw on the right side of the display and then form more screws on the left side.

STEP 6.

Separate the LCD screen from the back cover and place it face down on the keyboard.

STEP 7.

Now you can access the video cable which is plugged into the screen.

STEP 8.

Remove sticky tape securing the connection.

Unplug the video cable connector from the LCD screen as it shown on the following picture.

STEP 9.

Now you should be able to remove the LCD screen from the laptop and replace it with a new one.

The best way to find a new compatible LED LCD screen would be searching by the model number from the back of the screen.

My Lenovo G560 laptop had the following LCD screen installed: model No: B156XW02 v.2

If your laptop has a different screen installed, just search by the model number as I did.

In this guide I explain how to change LED backlit LCD screen on an Asus UL30VT laptop.

The guide should work for all models in the Asus UL30V series line.

To be precise, the full name of the laptop I’m working with is Asus UL30VT-X1.

The LCD screen replacement procedure is pretty much straight forward and shouldn’t take more than 20 minutes.

Before you start, make sure the laptop is turned off.

STEP 1.

Start laptop disassembly with disconnecting the battery.

STEP 2.

On the LCD screen bezel you’ll find six screw covers.

STEP 3.

Remove each screw cover with a sharp object.

Glue screw covers somewhere on the bezel so they don’t get lost (the bottom part is sticky).

Remove all six screws found under those covers.

STEP 4.

Now we’ll start separating the screen bezel from the back cover. There are hidden plastic latches securing the bezel to the cover.

Insert a piece of soft plastic (I’m using the guitar pick) between the bezel and cover and move it along the side.

At the same time insert your fingers under the bezel and separate it from the back cover.

STEP 5.

Continue removing the bezel on the upper side of the display assembly.

After that move to the lower part.

STEP 6.

The screen bezel removed.

STEP 7.

Now you can separate the screen from the back cover.

There are no screws securing the screen.

STEP 8.

Place the screen on the keyboard so you can access the back side.

You’ll see the video cable connector to the screen.

STEP 9.

Remove sticky tape securing the connection.

Disconnect the video cable from the LCD screen connector.

STEP 10.

Now you can remove and change the screen.

If you need a new screen for your Asus UL30VT laptop, you can find it here.

In this guide I show how to replace LCD screen on HP Pavilion dv4 laptop.

HP Pavilion dv4 laptop comes with two different types of screens installed:
1. LCD screen with CCFL backlight (requires screen inverter).
2. LCD screen with LED backlight.

In this guide I’ll be replacing LCD with CCFL backlihgt.

Also you can use this guide for replacing LED LCDs but they don’t have inverter boards so you’ll have to skip steps 8 and 9.

Before you start make sure the laptop is turned off.

STEP 1.

Remove the laptop battery.

STEP 2.

Remove the screw cover located in the lower left corner of the display.

Remove one screw securing the screen bezel on the left side.

STEP 3.

Remove the screw cover located in the lower right corner of the display.

Remove one screw securing the screen bezel on the right side.

STEP 4.

Separate the top side of the screen bezel from the display cover.

STEP 5.

Continue removing the screen bezel.

STEP 6.

When the top side of the bezel separated from the display cover, move to the lower part.

Lift up one side of the bezel with a small screwdriver.

Work slowly. There are hidden latches securing the bezel. Try not to break all of them.

STEP 7.

Remove the screen bezel.

STEP 8.

As I mentioned before, this HP Pavilion dv4 laptop has a CCFL LCD screen which requires an inverter board.

The screen inverter mounted on the lower part of the display assembly.

STEP 9.

There are a few plastic tabs securing the inverter board.

Lift up the inverter board and disconnect cables on both sides of the inverter.

Remove the inverter.

STEP 10.

Remove two screws securing the LCD screen on the top.

STEP 11.

Loosen (do not removed) three screw securing the left hinge.

STEP 12.

Loosen (do not removed) three screw securing the right hinge.

STEP 13.

Now you should be able to separate the LCD screen from the display cover just enough to access screws on both sides of the LCD screen.

Remove four screws securing the LCD screen on the right side.

STEP 14.

Remove four more screws securing the LCD screen on the left side.

STEP 16.

The web camera module still attached to the LCD screen.

The web camera IS NOT a part of the screen but it’s attached to the screen by two sticky aluminum strips.

Disconnect the web camera cable on the left side.

STEP 17.

Separate the web camera module from the screen.

STEP 18.

In this guide I will show how to replace broken screen on a Lenovo ThinkPad T410 laptop.

Most likely this guide will work for some other ThinkPad models. If it works for you please mention the model number in comments after the post.

Lenovo ThinkPad T410 laptop comes with LED-backlit LCD screen. I explain how to find a new replacement screen at the end of the guide.

STEP 3.

Start separating the screen bezel from the screen back cover.

Insert a piece of soft plastic between the bezel and cover and wiggle it a little bit.

STEP 4.

STEP 7.

Separate screen from the cover and place it face down on the palm rest assembly.

STEP 8.

Now you can access the back side of the screen and disconnect the video cable.

Remove sticky tape securing the video cable to the LCD screen.

STEP 11.

Finally, remove two screws from the side of the screen.

Transfer the hinge bezel to the new screen.

Do the same with the other side.

It’s very important to find the correct screen for your laptop. Make sure the new screen has same resolution as the original screen.

You can search for a new screen here.

There are two ways:
1. You can search by the laptop model number. In my case the model number is: B141EW05 v.4
2. You can search by the Lenovo FRU number. In my case FRU number is 42T0733.

It’s possible there is more than one screen compatible with your Lenovo ThinkPad T410 laptop.

In this guide I explain how to remove and replace LCD screen on a HP Pavilion g6 laptop.

All disassembly steps should be similar for all models in the Pavilion g6 line.

If you are looking for the laptop base disassembly, please check out my previous HP Pavilion g6 base disassembly guide.

Before you start, make sure the laptop is turned off and battery removed.

STEP 1.

Lift up the screw cover from the lower left corner of the LCD screen bezel.

Remove the screw located under the cover.

STEP 2.

Do the same with the lower right corner of the screen.

STEP 3.

Insert your fingers between the screen bezel and screen somewhere in the middle.

Carefully separate the bezel from the screen by wiggling the bezel.

There are hidden plastic latches securing the bezel to the LCD screen cover.

STEP 4.

Continue separating the bezel on both sides of the display assembly.

STEP 5.

STEP 7.

Remove two screws (top left and right) securing the screen to the display cover.

Loosen (do not remove completely) four screws on the bottom of the screen.

STEP 8.

Now you should be able to separate the screen from the cover and access two screws on the right side of the screen.

Remove both screws.

STEP 11.

Now you can access the video cable on the back of the screen.

STEP 12.

Remove clear sticky tape securing the video cable connection.

In this guide I explain how to replaced LED-backlit LCD screen on Dell Inspiron 1750 laptop.

It’s very easy to disassemble the display panel on a Dell Inspiron 1750 and the entire LCD screen replacement process took me about 30 minutes.

Today I show how to replace cracked LCD screen on Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop. The procedure is very similar to replacing LCD screen on many other Dell laptops and takes about 30 minutes.

Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop uses two different types of LCD screens:
1. Old style LCD screen with CCFL backlight.
2. Newer style LCD screen with LED backlight.

In my case I’m replacing LCD screen with LED backlight.

Before you start, make sure the laptop is turned off and battery removed.

STEP 1.

The screen bezel has six rubber screw covers.

Remove all covers with a sharp object.

Glue these covers somewhere on the screen bezel so they don’t get lost.

Remove all six screws found under those covers.

STEP 2.

Insert your fingers between the bezel and screen and start separating the bezel.

The screen bezel secured by hidden latches. You’ll have to wiggle the bezel in order to disengage those latches.

STEP 3.

Continue separating the bezel on the top of the display assembly.

STEP 4.

The bottom part of the bezel could be glued to the LCD screen with sticky tape.

In this case insert a piece of soft plastic (I’m using a guitar pick) between the bezel and LCD screen and carefully move it along the side.

STEP 5.

The LCD screen bezel has been removed.

STEP 6.

Remove two screws securing LCD screen to the display cover.

STEP 7.

Separate LCD screen from the display cover and place it face down on the keyboard.

STEP 8.

Now you can access the video cable connector on the back of the screen.

Laptops with LED backlit LCD screens have no inverter board. There is only one cable plugged into the screen as it shown on the following picture.

If you are working on a laptop with CCFL backlit LCD screen, you’ll have to disconnect video cable from the LCD screen and inverter board which is located on the bottom of the screen.

STEP 9.

Remove sticky tape securing the connection.

Unplug video cable from the LCD screen.

STEP 10.

Now you can remove the LCD screen and replace it with a new one.

New replacement LCD screens for Dell Inspiron 1545 laptops available here.

You can search by the LCD screen model number which is printed on the screen label. In my case I had this screen: LP156WH2 (TL)(A1).

Remember, there are two different types of screens used in this model: LCD screen with CCFL backlight (older type) and LCD screen with LED backlight (newer type).

CCFL backlit LCD screen have a short cable sticking out of the lower right corner – this is backlight lamp cable.

LED backlight LCD screens do not have this cable.

Make sure to buy the correct screen.

STEP 11.

The final step would be moving LCD screen mounting brackets to the new screen.

Remove three screws on one side of the screen and transfer the bracket to the new screen. Do the same on the other side.

In this guide I explain how to replace broken screen on HP 2000 laptop. In my case the screen was accidentally damaged and the image disappeared completely.

To be precise, I’m working on an HP 2000-210US laptop.

I would suggest making some notes during the disassembly process about screw locations. Some screws have different length. Your notes will be helpful when you assemble the laptop back together.

Turn off the laptop and remove the battery.

STEP 1.

Using a sharp object remove the screw cover located in the lower left corner of the display.

Remove the screw.

STEP 2.

Remove the screw cover in the lower right corner.

Remove the screw.

STEP 3.

Insert your fingers between the LCD screen bezel and back cover and start separating the bezel.

STEP 4.

Remove the screen bezel.

STEP 5.

Remove one screw securing the left hinge cover.

STEP 6.

Using a small screwdriver pull the hing cover and remove it.

STEP 7.

Remove one screw securing the right hinge cover.

STEP 8.

Remove the right hinge cover.

STEP 9.

Remove six screws securing the LCD screen assembly to the display cover.

STEP 10.

Separate back cover from the LCD screen.

STEP 11.

Now you can access the video cable connector located on the back side of the screen.

STEP 12.

Remove clear tape securing the connection.

Disconnect the video cable connector from the LCD screen connector.

STEP 13.

Remove three screws securing the LCD screen to the right hinge bracket.

Remove three more screws on the left side.

STEP 14.

Now you can remove and replace the damaged LCD screen.

When you are searching for a new replacement screen, do not confuse HP 2000 with HP dv2000. They are two different models.

Assemble the laptop back together following instructions from step 14 to step 1.

I had some trouble connecting the screen bezel to the cover on the lower part of the display. The bezel didn’t click back on place.

Here’s how I did it.

I placed the laptop upside down and pushed on the screen bezel with a plastic stick. While pushing on the bezel, I moved the stick from one side to another and the screen bezel clicked back in place.
