In this guide I will remove the LCD screen and FL inverter board from an Acer Aspire 3620. The guide will work for other Acer Aspire models. If it works for your, please mention the model number in the comments below.
You’ll find my first disassembly guide for the same Acer Aspire 3620 in the previous post where I explained how to remove the motherboard and clean the cooling module.
Let’s start taking it apart.
In this guide I will remove a broken LCD screen from a Gateway MT6704 (Model MA7) laptop and replace it with a new screen. As I mentioned in my previous article, where I was replacing the laptop keyboard, this guide will work for many other Gateway laptops in MT6700 line.
Before you start, turn off the laptop, unplug the power adapter and remove the battery.
In the following guide I will open up the display panel and remove LCD screen with inverter board from a Sony Vaio PCG-K series laptop. As an example I’ll be taking apart a Sony Vaio PCG-K33 laptop. These instructions should work for many other laptops in PCG-K line.
By the way, in one of the previous posts I explain how to access the power jack.
There are four screws securing the display bezel (mask) to the LCD cover. These screws are hidden under four rubber covers. Two black covers on the top of the bezel (marked with yellow squares) and two white covers (marked with red squares).
In this guide I explain how to open the display panel and replace the screen inverter board in HP Compaq 8510p and 8510w notebooks. The inverter board located inside the display panel beneath the screen. The inverter board works as a power supply for the LCD backlight lamp. When inverter fails, the LCD screen goes dark. The image is still on the screen but you can barely see it.

OK, let’s start taking this unit apart.
STEP 1.
There are two rubber covers in the lower left and right corners of the screen bezel. You can remove these covers with a sharp object.
In this guide I’ll be removing and replacing the LCD screen and removing the inverter board from a HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop.
As you see on the picture above I’m fixing a HP Pavilion dv6000 series laptop with a bad LCD screen. The lower part of the screen displays garbled image and the upper part works just fine. An external monitor displays image properly. So it’s bad screen and it has to be replaced.
This guide will help you replace the screen inverter in a Dell Latitude D800 laptop. As in most other models, the inverter board is mounted inside the display panel and located below the LCD screen.
You will find the display panel diagram in the service manual for Dell Latitude D800.
Screen inverter failure symptoms:
1. The laptop starts normally and video works fine for a while but after some time the screen goes very dark. You still can see the desktop but it’s very faint.
2. When you turn on the laptop, the screen lights up for a moment and goes off.
3. You can light up the screen for a short period of time by pressing on the lid close switch.
In this tutorial I’ll explain how to remove LCD screen and replace inverter board in an Acer Aspire 5100 laptop. This tutorial will work for many other Acer laptops with the same body.
In my previous article I was taking an Acer Aspire 5100 apart.
OK, let’s get inside the display assembly.
First of all, turn off the laptop, unplug AC adapter and remove the battery.
The screen bezel has four screws hidden under for seals. Two rubber seals on the top of the bezel and two plastic seals on the bottom.
In this guide I’ll explain how to take apart an Acer Aspire 5100 laptop. I’ll show how to remove and replace major laptop components such as CD/DVD drive, memory, hard drive, wireless card, cooling fan and keyboard.
In the next article I’ll explain how to remove LCD screen and replace inverter board.
First of all, make sure the laptop is turned off, the power adapter is disconnected and the battery is removed.
Both memory modules, wireless card, cooling and and hard drive can be accessed from the bottom. Remove four screws marked with red circles and loosen two screws marked with green circles. Remove both covers.
In the following guide I explain how to remove the inverter board and LCD cable from a Gateway Solo 1400/1450 laptop. This guide should work for many other Gateway laptops.
First of all, remove the laptop battery.
The LCD bezel has six rubber plugs covering screws. Remove all rubber plugs with a sharp object.
This guide will help you to remove the LCD screen and inverter board from a Sony Vaio VGN-SZ645 laptop display. I think these instructions will work for many other Sony Vaio models.
Do not forget to remove the battery before you start.
