In the following guide I explain how to disassemble a Gateway NV series laptop. To be accurate, I’m working on a Gateway NV53 laptop (NV5302u). It also says model: MS2285 on the bottom.
I’m taking it apart in order to fix broken DC jack. The DC jack is soldered to the motherboard, so the whole laptop has to be disassembled and motherboard removed. With the following guide you should be able to remove and replace (if needed) all main laptop parts.

In this guide I’ll be replacing failed LCD screen in a Gateway MT3000 series laptop.
To be precise, I’m fixing a Gateway MT3707 laptop which has a failed backlight lamp inside the LCD screen.
Problem description: The laptop starts with reddish image on the screen and after a few seconds the screen light goes completely off. The image is still on the screen but it’s very dark. The reddish image indicates a problem with the backlight lamp. I tested laptop with a new backlight lamp and it works fine. In this case the entire LCD screen has to be replaced.

In the following guide I’ll be taking apart a Gateway P-series laptop.
In my case I’m taking apart a Gateway P-6825 but the guide should work for the entire P-series line.

The main purpose of this repair is replacing the laptop base cover. A piece of the base assembly where the right hinge connected broke off and the whole base assembly has to be replaced.

Now remove covers from the wireless card and memory. I mentioned the hard drive cover, but I’m not going to remove it.
