<p>In this guide I explain how to remove LCD screen from a Dell Inspiron 1318 laptop.</p>
<p>Also, I&#8217;ll show how to separate the inverter board from the screen.</p>
<p>Dell Inspiron 1318 might have two different screen types installed:</p>
<p>1. CCFL backlit LCD screen &#8211; screen with backlight lamp inside. This screen requires the inverter board. That&#8217;s the one I&#8217;ll be taking apart in the following guide.<br />
2. LED backlit LCD screen. This screen doesn&#8217;t require the inverter board.</p>
<p><span id="more-2663"></span></p>
<p>I&#8217;ll explain how to find the correct replacement LCD screen at the end of the guide.</p>
<p><strong>STEP 1.</strong></p>
<p>Turn off the laptop and remove the battery.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove laptop battery" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1318-screen/replace-dell-screen-02.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 2.</strong></p>
<p>Start separating the screen bezel from the back cover on the top of the display assembly.</p>
<p>Insert your fingers between the bezel and screen and wiggle the bezel.</p>
<p>There are hidden plastic latches securing the screen bezel. When you wiggle the bezel you&#8217;ll be able to disengage the latches.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Start removing screen bezel" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1318-screen/replace-dell-screen-03.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 3.</strong></p>
<p>Continue separating the bezel on the top of the display assembly.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Separate screen bezel from cover" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1318-screen/replace-dell-screen-04.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 4.</strong></p>
<p>After that move to the lower part of the bezel.</p>
<p>Carefully lift up the part of the bezel which covers the hinges.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Lift up hinge cover" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1318-screen/replace-dell-screen-05.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="377" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 5.</strong></p>
<p>Remove the bezel from the laptop.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Screen bezel removed" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1318-screen/replace-dell-screen-06.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="377" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 6.</strong></p>
<p>Remove six screws securing the LCD screen assembly to the display back cover.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove screen screws" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1318-screen/replace-dell-screen-07.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="377" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 7.</strong></p>
<p>Separate the screen from the back cover and place it face down on the keyboard.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Separate screen from back cover" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1318-screen/replace-dell-screen-08.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="377" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 8.</strong></p>
<p>Now you can access the back of the screen and LCD harness (video cable).</p>
<p>One part of the harness is connected to the inverter board. The second and is connected to the LCD screen.</p>
<p>If your Dell Inspiron 1318 laptop has a LED-backlit LCD screen there will be NO inverter board.</p>
<p>When you have LED LCD the video cable will have only one connector plugged into the screen.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Dell Inspiron 1318 video cable" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1318-screen/replace-dell-screen-09.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="377" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 9.</strong></p>
<p>Unplug connector from the inverter board.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Disconnect cable from inverter" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1318-screen/replace-dell-screen-10.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="377" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 10.</strong></p>
<p>Remove sticky tape securing the video cable connector.</p>
<p>Disconnect cable from the LCD screen.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Disconnect cable from screen" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1318-screen/replace-dell-screen-11.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="377" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 11.</strong></p>
<p>Now you can remove the LCD screen assembly from the laptop.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove LCD screen assembly" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1318-screen/replace-dell-screen-12.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="377" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 12.</strong></p>
<p>Like in many other Dell laptops, the screen inverter is mounted on the bottom side of the screen.</p>
<p>In the following three steps I&#8217;ll show how to separate the inverter board from the screen.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Dell Inspiron 1318 inverter" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1318-screen/replace-dell-screen-13.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="377" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 13.</strong></p>
<p>Disconnect one cable from the left side of the inverter board.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Disconnect cable from inverter" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1318-screen/replace-dell-screen-14.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="377" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 14.</strong></p>
<p>Remove one screw securing the inverter board to the mounting bracket.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove screw securing inverter board" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1318-screen/replace-dell-screen-15.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 15.</strong></p>
<p>Remove the inverter board from the bracket.</p>
<p>NOTE: most likely the inverter board will be glued to the mounting bracket with double sticky tape.</p>
<p>You&#8217;ll have to insert something between the inverter and bracket and separate it.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Separate inverter from screen" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1318-screen/replace-dell-screen-16.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>You can find a new replacement screen using the Dell part number from the back of the original screen.</p>
<p>You can see it on the following picture. The part number is six digits and letters after CN-.</p>
<p>In my Dell Inspiron 1318 laptop the screen has the following part number: 0C117J.</p>
<p>You can skip &#8220;0&#8243; while searching for a new screen. Just search for C117J.</p>
<p>You can search for new Dell Inspiron 1318 replacement screen <a href="http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&amp;pub=5574673312&amp;toolid=10001&amp;campid=5335918710&amp;customid=Inspiron+1318+screen&amp;mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp5197.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3DC117J%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a>.</p>
<p>If your screen has a different part number just use the search box.</p>
<p>Again, make sure to buy the correct screen type: CCFL backlit LCD screen or LED backlit LCD screen.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Find new replacement screen" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1318-screen/replace-dell-screen-17.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="377" /></p>
<p>If you are buying a CCFL LCD screen, I would advice to buy one with the inverter board attached. In this case there will be no compatibility issues between the inverter and screen.</p>

<p>In this guide I will disassemble a Dell Inspiron 17R N7110 laptop.</p>
<p>My goal is to access and replace the hard drive which is mounted inside the laptop case. But I will disassemble it even further. I will show how to remove the motherboard and other internal components.</p>
<p><span id="more-2515"></span>This laptop has two different names: Dell Inspiron 17R and Dell Inspiron N7110.</p>
<p>Before you start make sure the laptop is turned off.</p>
<p><strong>STEP 1.</strong></p>
<p>Remove laptop battery.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove battery" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-17R-N7110/dell-n7110-disassembly-02.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 2.</strong></p>
<p>There are four locks securing the keyboard on the top.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Keyboard locks" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-17R-N7110/dell-n7110-disassembly-03.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 3.</strong></p>
<p>Each lock has a spring behind it.</p>
<p>Push the lock into the case with a small screwdriver.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Open keyboard lock" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-17R-N7110/dell-n7110-disassembly-04.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="377" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 4.</strong></p>
<p>At the same time lift up the keyboard a little bit. You can use a knife blade to lift up the keyboard.</p>
<p>While the keyboard is lifted, push in all other locks.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Lift up keyboard" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-17R-N7110/dell-n7110-disassembly-05.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="377" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 5.</strong></p>
<p>Finally, lift up the top side of the keyboard and place the keyboard upside down on the palmrest.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove keyboard" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-17R-N7110/dell-n7110-disassembly-06.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 6.</strong></p>
<p>Now you can access the keyboard cable which is connected to the motherboard.</p>
<p>In the following two steps I explain how to unlock the connector and release the cable.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Keyboard connector" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-17R-N7110/dell-n7110-disassembly-07.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 7.</strong></p>
<p>On this picture the keyboard connector shown in the locked position.</p>
<p>Lift up the left side of the brown tab with your fingernail. The tap will open up at a 90 degree angle.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Unlock keyboard connector" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-17R-N7110/dell-n7110-disassembly-08.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="377" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 8.</strong></p>
<p>On this picture the same connector shown in the unlocked position.</p>
<p>Now you can pull the cable from the connector.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove keyboard cable" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-17R-N7110/dell-n7110-disassembly-09.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="377" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 9.</strong></p>
<p>Remove the keyboard.</p>
<p>If you would like to replace the keyboard, you can find a new keyboard for Dell Inspiron 17R N7110 <a href="http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&amp;pub=5574673312&amp;toolid=10001&amp;campid=5335918710&amp;customid=Inspiron+17R+keyboard&amp;mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_nkw%3DInspiron%2B17R%2BN7110%2Bkeyboard%26_sacat%3D0%26_odkw%3DInspiron%2BN7110%2Bkeyboard%26_osacat%3D0%26_trksid%3Dp3286.c0.m270.l1313" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">here</a>.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Replace keyboard" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-17R-N7110/dell-n7110-disassembly-10.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 10.</strong></p>
<p>Remove one screw securing the memory cover on the bottom of the laptop.</p>
<p>Remove the cover.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Memory cover" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-17R-N7110/dell-n7110-disassembly-11.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 11.</strong></p>
<p>You&#8217;ll find both memory modules under the cover.</p>
<p>For the purpose of my guide it&#8217;s not necessary to remove memory modules.</p>
<p>By the way, Dell Inspiron 17R N7110 laptop uses PC3-10666 DDR3-1333 204pin SDRAM SODIMM memory.</p>
<p>It can take up to 8GB RAM total. It means you can install up to 4GB RAM module into each slot.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Memory RAM modules" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-17R-N7110/dell-n7110-disassembly-12.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 12.</strong></p>
<p>Remove one screw securing the optical DVD drive.</p>
<p>Pull DVD drive from the laptop and remove it.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove DVD drive" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-17R-N7110/dell-n7110-disassembly-13.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 13.</strong></p>
<p>Remove all screws from the bottom of the laptop.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Laptop bottom screws" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-17R-N7110/dell-n7110-disassembly-14.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 14.</strong></p>
<p>Remove four screw securing the palmrest assembly.</p>
<p>Disconnect the following cables:<br />
1. Power button board cable.<br />
2. Touchpad cable.<br />
3. Hot key board cable.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Disconnect palmrest assembly" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-17R-N7110/dell-n7110-disassembly-15.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 15.</strong></p>
<p>Separate the palmrest assembly from the bottom case with a piece of soft plastic.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m using the guitar pick.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Lift up palmrest assembly" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-17R-N7110/dell-n7110-disassembly-16.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="377" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 16.</strong></p>
<p>Lift up and remove the palmrest assembly.</p>

<p><strong>STEP 17.</strong></p>
<p>When the palmrest assembly removed you can access the following laptop components:<br />
- Cooling fan.<br />
- CMOS battery.<br />
- Hard drive.<br />
- Speakers and subwoofer.<br />
- I/O board. Both wireless cards mounted on this board.<br />
- Motherboard.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Motherboard components" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-17R-N7110/dell-n7110-disassembly-18.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 18.</strong></p>
<p>Remove three screws securing the hard drive.</p>
<p>Slide the hard drive to the left to disconnect it from the motherboard.</p>
<p>Lift up and remove the hard drive from the laptop.</p>
<p>In my Dell Inspiron 17R N7110 I had a regular 2.5&#8243; SATA hard drive installed. It&#8217;s possible to replace it with any other large capacity SATA hard drive or SDD.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove hard drive" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-17R-N7110/dell-n7110-disassembly-19.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>

<p>In this guide I explain how to replaced LED-backlit LCD screen on Dell Inspiron 1750 laptop.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s very easy to disassemble the display panel on a Dell Inspiron 1750 and the entire LCD screen replacement process took me about 30 minutes.</p>
<p><span id="more-2461"></span></p>
<p>Before you start, make sure the laptop is turned off and battery removed.</p>
<p><strong>STEP 1.</strong></p>
<p>The LCD screen bezel secured to the display cover by hidden plastic latches, there are no screws.</p>
<p>Insert your fingers between the bezel and screen somewhere in the webcam area.</p>
<p>Wiggle the screen bezel and separate it from the display cover.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Separate screen bezel" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1750-screen/replace-lcd-screen-02.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 2.</strong></p>
<p>Continue separating the bezel on the top of the display assembly.</p>

<p><strong>STEP 3.</strong></p>
<p>Move to the bottom part of the bezel.</p>
<p>Lift up the bezel and separate it from the display cover in the hinge area.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Lift up screen bezel" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1750-screen/replace-lcd-screen-04.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 4.</strong></p>
<p>Remove the bezel.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Screen bezel removed" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1750-screen/replace-lcd-screen-05.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 5.</strong></p>
<p>There are eight screws securing the LCD screen to the display cover.</p>
<p>Remove two screws on the top of the display.</p>
<p>Loosen (do not remove completely) six screws on the bottom of the display.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove display screws" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1750-screen/replace-lcd-screen-06.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 6.</strong></p>
<p>Carefully separate the display cover from the LCD screen just enough to access screws on the side of the screen.</p>
<p>Remove two screws securing the right side of the screen to the hinge bracket.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Right side screws" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1750-screen/replace-lcd-screen-07.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>

<p>In this guide I&#8217;ll be replacing the keyboard on a Dell Inspiron 1750 laptop.</p>
<p>My customer spilled something on the keyboard and some keys stopped working completely.</p>
<p>Laptop keyboards cannot be disassembled. If the keyboard fails, it has to be replaced.</p>
<p><span id="more-2453"></span></p>
<p>Before you start laptop disassemble, make sure it&#8217;s turned off and battery removed.</p>
<p><strong>STEP 1.</strong></p>
<p>There are two screws securing the speaker cover on the bottom of the laptop.</p>
<p>Remove both screws.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove bottom screws" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1750/replace-keyboard-02.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 2.</strong></p>
<p>Lift up one side of the speaker cover with a small flathead screwdriver. I&#8217;m using a plastic stick for that.</p>
<p>Continue removing the cover with your fingers.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Lift up power button cover" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1750/replace-keyboard-03.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>

<p>Today I show how to replace cracked LCD screen on Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop. The procedure is very similar to replacing LCD screen on many other Dell laptops and takes about 30 minutes.</p>
<p>Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop uses two different types of LCD screens:<br />
1. Old style LCD screen with CCFL backlight.<br />
2. Newer style LCD screen with LED backlight.</p>
<p>In my case I&#8217;m replacing LCD screen with LED backlight.</p>
<p><span id="more-2434"></span></p>
<p>Before you start, make sure the laptop is turned off and battery removed.</p>
<p><strong>STEP 1.</strong></p>
<p>The screen bezel has six rubber screw covers.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Screw covers" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1545-screen/replace-laptop-screen-02.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>Remove all covers with a sharp object.</p>
<p>Glue these covers somewhere on the screen bezel so they don&#8217;t get lost.</p>
<p>Remove all six screws found under those covers.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove cover" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1545-screen/replace-laptop-screen-03.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="384" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 2.</strong></p>
<p>Insert your fingers between the bezel and screen and start separating the bezel.</p>
<p>The screen bezel secured by hidden latches. You&#8217;ll have to wiggle the bezel in order to disengage those latches.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Removing screen bezel" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1545-screen/replace-laptop-screen-04.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="392" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 3.</strong></p>
<p>Continue separating the bezel on the top of the display assembly.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Separate screen bezel" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1545-screen/replace-laptop-screen-05.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 4.</strong></p>
<p>The bottom part of the bezel could be glued to the LCD screen with sticky tape.</p>
<p>In this case insert a piece of soft plastic (I&#8217;m using a guitar pick) between the bezel and LCD screen and carefully move it along the side.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Separate bezel on bottom" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1545-screen/replace-laptop-screen-06.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 5.</strong></p>
<p>The LCD screen bezel has been removed.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove screen bezel" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1545-screen/replace-laptop-screen-07.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 6.</strong></p>
<p>Remove two screws securing LCD screen to the display cover.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove hinge screws" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1545-screen/replace-laptop-screen-08.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 7.</strong></p>
<p>Separate LCD screen from the display cover and place it face down on the keyboard.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Place LCD on keyboard" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1545-screen/replace-laptop-screen-09.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 8.</strong></p>
<p>Now you can access the video cable connector on the back of the screen.</p>
<p>Laptops with LED backlit LCD screens have no inverter board. There is only one cable plugged into the screen as it shown on the following picture.</p>
<p>If you are working on a laptop with CCFL backlit LCD screen, you&#8217;ll have to disconnect video cable from the LCD screen and inverter board which is located on the bottom of the screen.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Video cable connector" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1545-screen/replace-laptop-screen-10.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 9.</strong></p>
<p>Remove sticky tape securing the connection.</p>
<p>Unplug video cable from the LCD screen.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Disconnect video cable" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1545-screen/replace-laptop-screen-11.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="424" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 10.</strong></p>
<p>Now you can remove the LCD screen and replace it with a new one.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove LCD screen" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1545-screen/replace-laptop-screen-12.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>New replacement LCD screens for Dell Inspiron 1545 laptops <a href="http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&amp;pub=5574673312&amp;toolid=10001&amp;campid=5335918710&amp;customid=Inspiron+1545+screen&amp;mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp5197.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3DInspiron%2B1545%2Bscreen%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">available here</a>.</p>
<p>You can search by the LCD screen model number which is printed on the screen label. In my case I had this screen: <strong>LP156WH2 (TL)(A1)</strong>.</p>
<p>Remember, there are two different types of screens used in this model: LCD screen with CCFL backlight (older type) and LCD screen with LED backlight (newer type).</p>
<p>CCFL backlit LCD screen have a short cable sticking out of the lower right corner &#8211; this is backlight lamp cable.</p>
<p>LED backlight LCD screens do not have this cable.</p>
<p>Make sure to buy the correct screen.</p>
<p><strong>STEP 11.</strong></p>
<p>The final step would be moving LCD screen mounting brackets to the new screen.</p>
<p>Remove three screws on one side of the screen and transfer the bracket to the new screen. Do the same on the other side.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove mounting brackets" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1545-screen/replace-laptop-screen-13.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>

<p>In this guide I explain how to take apart a Dell Inspiron N5010 laptop.</p>
<p>I believe this model also called Inspiron 15R. Also similar to Inspiron M5010 model.</p>

<p>Dell Inspiron N5010 doesn&#8217;t give you easy access to the hard drive. I&#8217;ll be removing the keyboard and top cover assembly.</p>
<p><span id="more-2381"></span></p>
<p>Before you stat laptop disassembly make sure it&#8217;s turned off and battery removed.</p>

<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove memory cover" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-N5010/Dell-Inspiron-N5010-disassembly-02.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 2.</strong></p>
<p>Both memory slots/modules can be easily accessed on the bottom of the laptop.</p>
<p>Dell Inspiron N5010 (Inspiron 15R) laptop can support up to 8GB RAM. You can install up to 4GB RAM module into each slot.</p>
<p>Memory type used: PC3-10666 DDR3-1333 204pin SDRAM SODIMM.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Dell Inspiron N5010 memory" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-N5010/Dell-Inspiron-N5010-disassembly-03.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 3.</strong></p>
<p>Remove one screw securing the DVD drive.</p>
<p>Pull DVD drive from the laptop and remove it.</p>

<p><strong>STEP 5.</strong></p>
<p>There are four spring loaded latches securing the keyboard on the top.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Keyboard latches" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-N5010/Dell-Inspiron-N5010-disassembly-06.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 6.</strong></p>
<p>Push on the latch with a small screwdriver and at the same time lift up the keyboard a little bit.</p>
<p>Do the same with all remaining latches.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Release keyboard latches" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-N5010/Dell-Inspiron-N5010-disassembly-07.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="377" /></p>

<p>In this post I explain how to take apart a Dell Vostro 1220 laptop.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m taking it apart in order to remove and replace failed hard drive which is mounted deep inside the laptop case.</p>
<p>I will also show how to access and remove other main Dell Vostro 1220 laptop parts such as memory modules, keyboard, DVD drive, wireless card and CMOS battery.</p>
<p><span id="more-2323"></span></p>
<p>Before you start laptop disassembly, make sure it&#8217;s turned off and battery removed.</p>
<p><strong>STEP 1.</strong></p>
<p>Remove two screws securing the memory cover. Remove the cover.</p>

<p><strong>STEP 5.</strong></p>
<p>Continue removing the cover with your fingers.</p>
<p>Be careful, the control button board cable still connected to the motherboard.</p>
<p>Don&#8217;t be scared if you accidentally pulled the cable from the connector. You can reconnect it later when the keyboard is removed.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Media board connected" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Vostro-1220/take-apart-vostro-1220-06.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>

<p>In this post I explain how to replace LCD screen in a <strong>Dell Studio 1555</strong> laptop.</p>
<p>UPDATE: today I had to replace damaged screen in a Dell Studio 1558 laptop and the replacement procedure was identical to Dell Studio 1555.</p>
<p>In my case the LCD screen started showing horizontal lines and only small portion of the screen still worked properly.</p>
<p><span id="more-2226"></span></p>
<p>In order to replace the LCD screen it&#8217;s not necessary to <a title="How to disassemble Dell Studio 1555 laptop" href="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/how-to-disassemble-dell-studio-1555-laptop/">disassemble the entire laptop</a> and remove the display panel. You can replace the screen while the display panel still attached to the laptop.</p>
<p>Before you start, make sure the laptop is turned off and battery removed.</p>
<p><strong>STEP 1.</strong></p>
<p>There are no screws securing the screen bezel to the display cover. It&#8217;s secured by hidden plastic latches.</p>
<p>Insert a piece of soft plastic (I&#8221;m using a guitar pick) between the screen bezel and display cover and wiggle it to release hidden latches. Separate bezel from the cover.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Separate screen bezel" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Studio-1555-screen/replace-failed-screen-02.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="376" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 2</strong></p>
<p>Continue removing the bezel with your fingers.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Continue removing bezel" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Studio-1555-screen/replace-failed-screen-03.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 3.</strong></p>
<p>Separate bezel from the cover on the bottom of the display assembly.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Separate bezel on bottom" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Studio-1555-screen/replace-failed-screen-04.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="376" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 4.</strong></p>
<p>Remove the screen bezel.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove screen bezel" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Studio-1555-screen/replace-failed-screen-05.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>You&#8217;ll find a small magnet attached to the back side of the screen bezel. This magnet activates lid close switch when the display is closed.</p>
<p>Do not lose the magnet or the lid close switch will not work.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Lid close switch magnet" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Studio-1555-screen/replace-failed-screen-06.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 5.</strong></p>
<p>Remove four screws securing the LCD screen.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove screen screws" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Studio-1555-screen/replace-failed-screen-07.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 5.</strong></p>
<p>Separate the LCD screen assembly from the display cover so you can access the webcam cable.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Access webcam module" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Studio-1555-screen/replace-failed-screen-08.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 6.</strong></p>
<p>Unplug the cable from the webcam module.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Disconnect webcam cable" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Studio-1555-screen/replace-failed-screen-09.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="376" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 7.</strong></p>
<p>Place the LCD screen face down on the top cover.</p>

<p>In this guide I explain how to disassemble a Dell Studio 1555 laptop. I&#8217;ll show how to take it apart completely and remove all major parts.</p>
<p><span id="more-2215"></span></p>
<p><strong>With this guide you&#8217;ll be able to:</strong><br />
- access laptop hard drive, memory, CMOS battery.<br />
- remove and replace keyboard.<br />
- remove and replace DVD optical drive.<br />
- remove motherboard.<br />
- remove and clean the cooling fan assembly.<br />
- access and DC jack harness.<br />
etc&#8230;</p>
<p>Before you start, make sure the laptop is powered off and battery removed.</p>
<p><strong>STEP 1.</strong></p>
<p>Start laptop disassemble with removing the memory card and hard drive cover which is secured by three screws.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove memory hard drive cover" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Studio-1555-disassembly/laptop-disassembly-02.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 2.</strong></p>
<p>Under the cover you&#8217;ll get an access to both memory modules/slots, hard drive, wireless card and CMOS battery.</p>
<p>Also, some Dell Studio 1555 models can be equipped with WWAN and WPAN cards.</p>
<p>Remove four screws securing the hard drive. Slide the hard drive to the right to disconnect it from the motherboard.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Disconnect hard drive" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Studio-1555-disassembly/laptop-disassembly-03.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 3.</strong></p>
<p>Lift up and remove the hard drive.</p>
<p>If you replacing the hard drive, you&#8217;ll have to transfer mounting brackets to the new drive.</p>
<p>My Dell Studio 1555 laptop has a regular 2.5&#8243; SATA hard drive which can be upgraded to a SSD hard drive (expensive but quite and fast).</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove hard drive" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Studio-1555-disassembly/laptop-disassembly-04.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 4.</strong></p>
<p>In order to release the memory module you&#8217;ll have to spread latches on both sides of the memory slot.</p>
<p>The memory module will pop up at a 30 degree angle.</p>
<p>Pull both memory modules from slots.</p>
<p>Dell Studio 1555 laptop uses DDR2 PC2-6400 memory. It can take up to 8GB total (up to 4GB RAM in each slot).</p>
<p>If you want to use more than 4GB RAM, you&#8217;ll have to run a 64-bit operating system.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove memory modules" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Studio-1555-disassembly/laptop-disassembly-05.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 5.</strong></p>
<p>Remove one screw securing the center control cover.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Control cover screw" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Studio-1555-disassembly/laptop-disassembly-06.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>

<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove center control cover" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Studio-1555-disassembly/laptop-disassembly-08.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 8.</strong></p>
<p>Remove two screws securing the keyboard.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Keyboard screws" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Studio-1555-disassembly/laptop-disassembly-09.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 9.</strong></p>
<p>Lift up the keyboard and place it upside down on the palm rest.</p>
<p>Be careful. The keyboard still attached to the motherboard. There are two ribbon cables running from the keyboard to the motherboard.</p>
<p>Before you can remove the keyboard, it&#8217;s necessary to unlock both connectors and release cables.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Keyboard connectors" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Studio-1555-disassembly/laptop-disassembly-10.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 10.</strong></p>
<p>You can unlock both connectors using the same method.</p>
<p>Lift up the right side of the locking tab. It will open up at a 90 degree angle.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Keyboard connector locked" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Studio-1555-disassembly/laptop-disassembly-11.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>

<p><img class="alignnone" title="Dell Inspiron 1564 broken screen" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1564-screen/replacing-broken-screen-01.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p>Here I explain how to replace broken LCD screen on a Dell Inspiron 1564 laptop.</p>
<p>Most likely this guide will work for some other Dell laptops. If it works for you, please mention the model number in comments after the post.</p>
<p><span id="more-2193"></span></p>
<p>Before you start, make sure the laptop is turned off and battery removed.</p>
<p><strong>STEP 1.</strong></p>
<p>Start separating the screen bezel from the display cover with a piece of soft plastic. I&#8217;m using a guitar pick for that.</p>
<p>There are hidden plastic latches securing the bezel. You&#8217;ll have to wiggle the bezel up and down to disengage those latches.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Separate screen bezel" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1564-screen/replacing-broken-screen-02.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 2.</strong></p>
<p>Continue separating the bezel with your fingers.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Continue removing bezel" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1564-screen/replacing-broken-screen-03.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 3.</strong></p>
<p>The bezel had been separated on the upper side of the display. Now move to the bottom side of the display.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Screen bezel separated on top" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1564-screen/replacing-broken-screen-04.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 4.</strong></p>
<p>Separate screen bezel from the LCD screen on the bottom of the display assembly.</p>
<p>Continue removing the bezel with your fingers.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Screen bezel separated on bottom" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1564-screen/replacing-broken-screen-05.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 5.</strong></p>
<p>Remove the bezel.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Screen bezel removed" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1564-screen/replacing-broken-screen-06.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
<p><strong>STEP 6.</strong></p>
<p>Remove six screws securing the screen assembly to the display cover.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone" title="Remove screws securing screen" src="http://www.insidemylaptop.com/images/Dell-Inspiron-1564-screen/replacing-broken-screen-07.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="375" /></p>
